I didn't expect that, to be honest book 2 was good but i expected more but this came and BOOM , it gave you all what you wanted and more, really loved reading that specially the climax and the twist at the end with all the twists in between ..this is just HUGEEE !
An ending to a trilogy with the precision of a Swiss watch.
What a delight to watch an author improve in front of your eyes over a trilogy. This is Sanderson in his present form, for good and for ill.
If you love him in anything written after this book, you'll love him here.
So much pays off from book 2. Amazing step further into the Cosmere as it opens you up more to the concepts that are shared between Brandon Sanderson's universe.
Mistborn and mistdied
Genuinely I will fistfight Brandon if I ever see him. I am sobbing. Such a great end that I hated but loves.
Spook❤️ Sazed❤️
I was so excited to finally get to the end of this series and boy was it a read. I loved everything up to the last 10 pages. The reveals of what is happening are fantastic and keep me reading to find out more. The character growth is inspiring and has me cheering for the crew along the way. Those last 10 pages though, right in the gut, release the waterworks. I had gotten so attached to the characters and the ending some got just didn't feel like they got what they deserved, what they worked so hard for. Overall love the first trilogy, great third book, but that ending hurts.
So worth it. The setup and intricacies through all three books culminated in one of the most epic endings in a trilogy I have ever read so far..
For whatever reason, I just did not enjoy this book as much as the first two. It took me weeks to finish because I did not find it very engaging.
Un final precioso para una trilogía que se gana el cariño del lector. El desarrollo que tienen varios personajes durante este libro es lo que permite que el desenlace sea tan emotivo.
There was no romance, no drama, just pure action and relentless fights that burned all my emotional capability. Yet, this book made me cry on many scenes. You couldn't have told me before starting my first Brandon Sanderson book that it would evoke such a range of emotions. I know this series has many more books and side novels, but reading The Hero of Ages was absolutely one of the best reading experiences of my life.
Spook, my boy, my man, my precious Tineye. You are the true hero of this age. I see Kelsier's spirit in you, even without the spear. I was one of the few who always believed in you.
Sazed! My best man indeed.
Imagine, all the characters have their own interesting and unique traits and qualities. Every single one. And at the same time, the storytelling is just perfect. I can't believe both aspects are achieved at such a high level. It's simply perfect. I love this book.
The Hero of Ages was the perfect conclusion to the mistborn trilogy. This group works better as underdogs trying to solve an impossible challenge than as rulers like they were in book two(technically they’re in control in this book but their backs were to the wall the entire time). Where the first two books had concrete villains in them, in the hero of ages the world itself is the villain until it is revealed who/what is controlling the world and it does terrible things to the people living in it. Vin’s storyline is as great as always. She’s one of my favorite characters ever. What really surprised me about this book, though, and the storyline i was most engaged in was Spook. I’d honestly pretty much forgotten he existed but his transformation and role in Urteau filled the void left by kelsier in book one. I constantly found myself waiting for more spook chapters.
Last, the avalanche in this book starts early and never slows down. Sanderson avalanches are my favorite thing to read and this might be my favorite of all of them. So far…
Through manipulation and decades of planning, Ruin does all it can to sway lives into the path of destruction. Its counterpart, Preservation, is drained as it tries to combat Ruin’s actions. Vin, Eland, and the team must figure out the hidden meaning of messages left by the Lord Ruler, who knew this day would come. But is it too late to turn back the devastation that Ruin has unleashed?
There are so many revelations taking place within The Hero of Ages. Careful planning and foundations of misdirection went into the previous books. When the truth is finally revealed readers will be hard-pressed to see it coming amidst the twists and turns. As things begin to click into place both the characters and readers will be left stunned.
The Hero of Ages touches upon recovering from grief and the battle against depression. As Sazed works to overcome his loss from book two, he begins a downward spiral. The religions he took such care to research have become meaningless. Readers will witness Sazed’s struggle to understand the circular nature of what he studied and how religions are formed over years of individual understanding and contribution. Sazed will come to a startling discovery about the history he holds close.
And then there is Spook. He goes through such an intense stretch of character development. Spook is no longer the boy crushing on Vin and lingering in the background. He makes it his goal to be a more effective part of the team. Even though all his choices are not wisely made, and he is influenced by darker intentions, Spook truly makes his mark on the world. And while not everything is perfect, he does discover self-worth and purpose.
The Hero of Ages is an intense conclusion to the original Mistborn novels. It leaves behind lingering mysteries the main cast could not discover and opens the door for even more adventure. Yet at the same time, it neatly concludes all the current character’s stories. Each of these novels was intense but easy to read. The politics are simple yet complex enough to influence the character's actions. This trilogy is for those who enjoy epic stories and well-developed characters and worlds.

The plotting was beautiful. We are never blindsided by any reveal and infact some nuggets were sprinkled as far back as book one. As usual the pacing was slow at the beginning but the build up was worth it.The two main characters had little growth in this one and one of them in particular had drastically changed at the beginning in ways I wish I had been able to read rather than have it referenced in past tense. That said, other characters took up the stage and grew in unexpected but engaging ways. There were some heartbreaking moments but I enjoyed the ending nonetheless. What a send-off. An enjoyable read
Wow. All I can say is that this was the perfect ending to this trilogy. The world building, character development, and everything in between showed Brandon's ability to create a truly epic fantasy.
This book definitely wrapped up the series nicely and was faster paced than the second book, though still not as fast as the first in the series.
Easy 5 star. This book never felt slow, and I burned through it because I just had to know what was going to happen in each of the POV's. There was so much suspense, but I also never felt like there was nothing happening at the moment. I think Brandon Sanderson is really great at the grand finale, where everything ties together and lots of little pieces make sense and you get to see characters really become who they are. And I ate it up, let me tell you.
My only complaint would be that one of the POV's maybe went on a bit too long. Like the story from that POV wasn't as important to me as the pages he used telling it. But it's fine, the chapters are short.
Age range: 15+
Violence still, but honestly less violent than the previous two books. Anyone who read the first two would definitely be fine.
