Fantastic finale. What a way to end the series. Makes me want to read all of his works.
A great book and a great trilogy. Loved the ending. Can't wait to read more Sanderson.
What I really enjoyed about this book was how “complete” it was. The final book in the series leaves no stone unturned, no emotional state unchecked, and no page left unturned without some sort of visceral reaction. Brandon Sanderson stated in the notes that he was fearful of this book because he actually had to end a series. Well, fear not, this ending was fantastic! Everything comes together like a grand puzzle. It's bold, clever, and satisfying.
What stands out to me is the flow of the book and the dedication to flesh out certain character traits in a methodical manner. No tricks here; just pure, exciting fantasy lore that has a quick pace and has something for everyone.
From here, I'll just say that I am not going to mention any characters storylines or plot points because, if you made it this far in the series, you are probably invested enough to give this last book a go. And if you do, it's best to go in without any knowledge, so it will probably be scatter-brained and vague from here on out.
I will say, however, that it is epic! There is such a fantastical density to the series. It ebbs and flows from one chapter to the next, adding memorable moments to characters while at the same time focusing your imagination on nostalgic moments and fully realized landscape eye-candy.
Initially, the draw of the first book is the hero's journey, the action, and the fun allomancy system, but those aspects are just a small fraction of what makes this book so great. It moves along at break-neck speeds, and although it is long in terms of page numbers, it never feels like it is too long or too short, if that makes sense. I even really enjoyed the action sequences in this novel as well. This is something that kind of irked me in the first two, but the large-scale descriptions worked better than the one vs. one fisticuffs.
Brandon Sanderson has done something special with this series. I know this isn't really a review, but I hope these ramblings will be the boost you need to check out the series if you are in the mood for a fun journey.
4.50/5.00
I don't know what to say. This book tells me why Brandon Sanderson represents a new age in fantasy. He is unmatched in word building, his stories layered and wound in mystery, unwound in this final of Mistborn Era 1, with much satisfaction.
I still think he can do better with characters. With the exception of chapter 1, the first 40-50% of this book is hard to read as the story very slowly. TBH, I was never able to invest in the characters significantly, with some notable exceptions [TenSoon, Tindywl].
SPOILERS!
I was hoping that the Lord Ruler might return somehow.. and talk !! He is one of the most referenced characters in the book, yet he had the lowest page time. I think he is fav character! Would have loved to see his perspective.
The ending is great, but a little too reminiscent of Christian Mythology. I guess that is to be expected from authors who are of faith.
Absolutely outstanding and unique trilogy that will go down in my top 10 favorite series for sure. The magic system was like nothing I've read before. I loved how many variables the magic had yet he was able to make it not overly complex. Most of the character work was well done as well. Sanderson's imagination and extensive planning in this series was top notch and any fantasy fan should read.
After loving book 2 and giving it 5 stars, this was such a disappointment! In what world is the middle book ever the best?!
I've found the pacing of all 3 books to be tedious but the story at least was interesting enough to keep going, but this was 500+ pages of yawn. Literally anything could distract me from reading it for weeks.
I will definitely read more in the Cosmere and hopefully the pacing gets a bit better because I'm not here for chunky books with nothing happening for 80%. No thanks
An amazing conclusion to one of my (n0w) favorite series of all time. Sanderson wrapped up all the weaving storylines beautifully and had it finish in a way that made even the most brutal deaths satisfying and justified.
Highly recommend this series to any fantasy lover.
A nice wrap-up to a trilogy. And only a tiny bit of fantasy silliness ;) I really enjoyed going through this one. Even though the world seemed a bit improbable with its one kingdom and kinda small size, the world building around and the way it was introduced to readers was really really good. I'll check the next books as well :)

The Mistborn Trilogy is one of those things in life you'll wish you could experience again for the first time.
I am lost for words......this entire trilogy was a trip one that I really enjoyed and I don't know what to say this last one was it the final punch I just can't think any way in which could have been better all felt right
If you haven't read yet this one let's say its going to hurt you're gonna get to a point where you can't stop no more maybe I'm always been a little bit lacking of emotions while I'm reading or well more about just crying or feeling sad but with this book I say
Im not sad because of the occurrences in the book I'm sad because it's over because this was the end.
I am completely satisfied with the mistborn journey. What a fun story! Wow wow wowie, I'm still reeling from what all of the answers really MEAN for the world.
Can't wait for era 2, let's go!!!!
WHAT AN AWESOME ENDING FOR THE TRILOGY!!!!!
I really loved this ending. All my questions about the world were answered successfully and with no bs answers that are invented at the moment just to resolve the current problem. We even get explained the subtle clues leading to each reveal, even referencing scenes in the first book I just overlooked. This makes a very satisfying ending because you feel that you could have predicted the twists, making them believable and justified. Even when you can foresee a plot twist, it is fulfilling to see it unfold, because there will be always something you did not expect.
Nothing new... Brandon Sanderson is just an amazing writer.
My only complaint about the book, is regarding a Scene towards the end, not gonna spoil anything... but I had the feeling it was too much bs and over the top, but somehow Sanderson brings it back down and makes it justified. That's why gave it 5 stars instead of 4.
The book on its own is Great. Once again it takes a page from the second entry in this trilogy (the well of ascension) and focuses more on the side characters and their development. This book gives us a new perspective from Spook, the quiet boy from the first book, who was overlooked by everybody including the readers.
This has led me to like the side characters more than the main ones... But everybody gets its time to shine, and somehow everybody becomes in the end a main character.
As mentioned above this book is also the most meta of the trilogy, since we get a look into the world and learn how everything works, making it more satisfying.
All in all a great book and an awesome trilogy. Go read it.

P.S.
This series has also a very interesting perspective on religion. This trilogy explores on the side what is religion and why people believe in it. Me being an atheist have found very interesting points, making me understand why people believe in religions. Don't think this is some kind of religious propaganda, quite the opposite. Each entry explores a perspective of religion, with its virtues and flaws. For example, the first book explores religion as a tool for control. The second one explores the logical flaws of Religion and finally the third explains why people believe in religion even with its flaws. Just an interesting take it took from this book. It still can be enjoyed without thinking about religion and believe.
What a story. I want to shake Sanderson's hand for this remarkable journey but also sneak a slap toward his face for killing my favorite character.
What a journey this was. I've never read a complete trilogy before, and Brandon Sanderson has set my expectations higher than they should be. At least the man writes in his sleep, so I got enough of him to catch up with, but I read this a few days ago, and I'm still thinking of it.
A perfect end to the story. All the pieces came together flawlessly.
The third book was the perfect conclusion to the trilogy and as Sanderson readers know, he always shines on the end. The series was brilliantly consistent, and we get to see all the pieces falling back into its place and tying everything perfectly together.
I loved the foreshadowing and hints on the first 2 books and felt specially rewarded by being right about a lot of details.
I definitely recommend the series for Fantasy fans.
Wow. What a fantastic ending to the trilogy. I wasn't sure what I wanted out of the final book, but I got it. I felt like my memory was put to the test quite a lot as this book had me recalling past information and turning it on its head. In the end, I got very emotional but the ending was a beautiful one. A fantastic end to what may now be my favorite book and one of my favorite series.
