See allI appreciate the story telling on this book. When this came out, there were a lot of mixed reviews so I thought I'd let it pass. It was a good book though, for me, everything that was happening was so normal, I felt relaxed. I thought for a moment that people were so focused with their opinion with Marianne and some of them forgot Connell was in the room.
I have one massive issue though, the brother-what's-his-name, I was so mad at him, I wanted to beat him up and I was waiting for maybe a redemption or something tragic to happen to him. I was so riled up and agitated I had to stop and curse for a full minute and then I thought how normal it is for some people to act like him.
Maybe because I am new to the book's setting of it's culture or maybe Roy's writing. But I did like her style. It's beautifully written you feel all the prose meant, deep from her.
Characters were depict in such a way you feel them. Excellent. Really feel for Velutha. Hays. And the twin's relationship was almost perfect, until something twisted happen by the end. Ugh.
This all started with Grandmother Willow, the sycamore tree in Pocahontas.
So we were singing Colors of the wind and the Sycamore tree from Flipped was opened up, the movie, that is. I've known about this book for a time now and I didn't pay it too much attention. Well, duh, I should have had!
This is actually a quick and lite read, nearly just 24 hours in between work, cooking, taking care of my little dragon and eating, Juli was so cute I wish Kaleb would be like that, and at 12 years old! Oh my, the has a lot to say and does a lot, I would say this is because of her up bringing, she's sensitive but not on how people would see her.
I almost forgot how much I love Young Adult. And this book reminded me of how wonderful being young was.
