So, I read this book quite a few years ago, so my memory is a bit hazy on it. All I can say with certainty is that I LOVED it when I read it. Day and June were interesting and fun characters, the mystery was good enough to keep me entertained, and honestly, at that time I hadn't had that much fun reading a book in a while.
Would definitely recommend for those who want to spend an afternoon in a dystopia that's quick to read.
I'm not usually into dystopian books, but I couldn't put this book down! That being said, the rest of the series really isn't as good so I would just read this one and save your time.
Great book! The pacing wasn't too slow, and there was never a point where it felt boring. However, I honestly felt that the “romance” wasn't that necessary, and felt forced. Still a nice read though! 4 stars.
Unforgettable YA series, with intricate characters that have you rooting for them and jaw-dropping society with action.
Totally fast-paced, addicting, and enjoyable. I loved Day's personality because it SURPRISED me. I've always thought that YA, dystopian guys were ALWAYS the same ( and I mean I love that they are the same lmao) But Day? ANOTHER WHOLE STORY. HE's always so caring but not mean. I loved that. June was alright. She turned 360 degrees in character development. Did I hate her? Well, I kind of did. But overall I liked her. But yeah she's the same as any other YA, dystopian girl. to me. But in the end, she turned out better in my opinion.
What I still can't UNDERSTAND, is WHY THE HECK ARE THIS CHARACTERS 15??????
If they were 17 I would've accepted, but in my opinion, they DON'T act 15 AT ALL. Taking all those decisions and being 15?? Nah I can't believe it. And is not because they were making “bad” decisions, just that they were WAY too mature for being 15.
Another thing, I LOVE enemies to lovers. But this one was too... rushed? I don't know. I didn't have any feelings at all for them. Like I thought it was cute and all, but I didn't have those butterflies I always have.
For some reason, I even shipped June with Thomas Lmao.
Those were NOT my favorite things about this. But overall ADDICTING. And I WOUld recommend.
I picked this book mostly because I wanted that old YA, dystopia I used to always loved. And I'm right I LOVE 2010s dystopia. For some reason it even reminded me of the Shatter Me series.
Confused screeching
I swear to God I am so confused. The characters were, ehhh, not so great. The mystery was decent, but damn I didn't like it as much.
However it is very noticeable that it's a very early on YA-adaptation. It includes most of the early YA elements, so I can appreciate it.
Don't know if I'll continue with the series, it's not on my priority list and ehh, I didn't like it that much to prioritize the next installments.
It was fine; Another one of those if I'd read it when it came out I probably would've enjoyed it more type books. Can't really fault this book for the plot feeling predictable since it came out before most of the other books that made this style of dystopian tiresome but, that doesn't mean I can't sigh over another “teenage orphans (who fall in love) try to rise against fascist government” plotline.
Don't see myself reading any further in the series but I understand why people like this.
I loved reading this book.
It had actually kind of missed reading dystopian and this one is such a good one.
The romance between Day and June is one I truly like.
The constant action kept me glued to the pages and the book has a constant factor of wanting to know more due to both characters finding things they're not supposed to.
I really only read this for part of a challenge but it really surprised me. I enjoyed it and felt for the characters. I've discovered that this is not a stand alone book and would quite like to read more in the series.
I first learned about Marie Lu because of The Young Elites. I loved it so much that it took me a while to start Legend as I do not want to spoil my love for her. I guess I was wrong because I think I am in love with her more. She writes so beautifully and convincingly I feel that every page is a masterpiece. She made everything about Legend feel so true that when I was done, I was eager to get my hands on Prodigy which I am now starting. I usually do not write reviews after I read a book, it takes me time and effort to review and think how many stars it deserves— but for Legend, there's no asking or second thoughts. It deserves more than the 5 stars goodreads allows you to give. The writing is perfect. The characters are well thought of, well established and undeniably likeable despite the good or the bad. Everything about Legend is what every reader wants in a book. A true full on experience of a new world.
Even if I've read this a million times before, this book is still so much fun.
One might even say it's legendary.
RTC.
Actually, a 3.5.
Just fast and good enough to get me out of my reading slump. Good book, not great, but enjoyable.
What a fantastic book! It was glued to my hands.
The storytelling is great, going strong throughout the book with brave twists. I was wandering so many times “how in the hell will this work out in the end?!”. Main characters are captivating, intelligent and full of life, you will root for them sincerely.
Actually, the less you know about the book the better, just pick it up and enjoy.
Tal como Day.
I give it rather a 4.5 stars. I like the world Legend is in. I find the opposite two worlds of the main characters fascinating. I had a little trouble first with the name Day, but i got used to it very quickly. I hope the next one will be a little more thrilling, but i really cant wait for them. I hope they will get better, so i can give them 5 stars ;)
A great story that's hard to put down. I enjoyed the characters and the action in this book.
I liked the different perspective and the history doesn't let you catch your breath! Hope the other are like this book.
Are we gonna see Ollie ? I want to see him back with June !
Finally got around to reading this book and I really enjoyed it. The different fonts/text colour made it easy to remember whose POV I was reading, so that was great. I felt like June and Day were a bit too mature for their age, I know they're prodigies and super smart, but even so they felt like 18-year-olds instead of 15-year-olds. Not too much happened in terms of story progression, but I'm sure the next book moves the plot further than Legend did. I will definitely read the sequels.
