This is the second book I've read by Rainbow Rowell. I really enjoy her writing style. She does a great job of creating characters that you care about. I will be picking up more novels by her.
Once I got into this novel it moved quickly. It was Harry Bosch all the way. Harry focused single mindfully on solving the case - mostly working on his own, dragging his partner and any other law enforcement officers along with him, butting heads with everyone and in the end, the only one to see the solution to the case…
I really enjoyed “Ghost Story.” Butcher flipped so many elements of the series in this novel. My favorite part is that Harry had to consider how his actions affected the world he lives in. Many series lose traction after a while but not this one. Looking forward to the 14th Dresden File.
Great read - this series has not disappointed me yet. I continue to love the character of Armand Gamache. This novel was set mostly in Quebec - which Penny makes very much a character in the book. ( after reading so much about Quebec - I would love to visit.
There is the solving of multiple mysteries in this book. Gamache is working on the mystery of a body being found the basement of an English library in Quebec. Jean-Guy is working in clearing Oliver from a murder that happened in the novel before this one. One of the things I especially love about this novel was the bond that develops between Jean-Guy and Ruth in this novel.
Very enjoyable read.
Re-read of a childhood favorite. There has been talk of new Narnia movies directed for Netflix by Greta Gerwig .... A possible choice being this volume of the Narnia Chronicles ❤️
This entry of the harry bosch series highlighted the character of Terry McCaleb. The book was equally divided between their two perspectives. I feel it gave another darker version of Harry - when it is only his perspective we have his inner voice that shows his humanity. I enjoyed this book and am happy to be reading the Bosch series again.
Not a fan of this book .... The main character was just too mild for me to care that much about her. The premise of a teen survivor who survives and grows up to confront her kidnapper is interesting. But Elizabeth/Eliza was so mild - and her confrontation barely registered.
It was quick and had potential so I gave it 2 stars. It just didn't play out to my expectations.
This is a fascinating biography. I couldn't stop reading this book...Since I started it,I've been encouraging my friends to read this book. I want to have others to discuss this thought provoking book with!
I have recently discovered Mary Oliver as a poet. I love her style and the way she perceives the world. I read this for the Massachusetts Center for the Book reading challenge - April's assignment. Glad it motivated me to seek out this book.
Harry Bosch solves the murder of his mother - very noir feel to this novel. I enjoyed it. Bosch is one of my favorite characters - flawed but noble.
quick read and Kinsey Millhone is an easy character to like. . . looking forward to reading more of the series.

I found this book - I learned about the book via the pop culture happy hour podcast. It was mostly recommended for the male lead, Carter. I would agree that Carter was not your usual love interest in a romantic book. He was a great change from the usual type and I found this book - a light enjoyable summer read. I will probably read more of the series.
Yet another book by Louise Penny that I couldn't stop reading. I had other books that I was planning on/supposed to be reading but I couldn't stop coming back to this book.
Oh the ending.... No spoilers but I was not expecting it.
The joy of Penny's writing and her character development is what brings me back every time. I love how Gamache is such a complete person and other characters have so much growing to do. Now I want to read more of the series to see where it goes after that wrap-up.
It took me a little while to get into this book. But once I did it was very good. It takes a hard look at how media exploits crimes of violence and murder. It makes you think about how we as the public consumes shows like dateline etc.
Spoiler: One thing I really enjoyed was the twist shortly before the ending. Strong recommendation for this book!!
