This has a good premise I think. But the execution wasn't there for me. The “test” for finding your master chakra is 5 questions long. Maybe, for some those are enough to find your strongest features but for me, that is not nearly enough points to check for the majority energies.
So for anyone else that is multi-faceted I feel you'll have issues with identifying your chakra using that test. Also, as an energy healer, I'm a bit unsure at the basis of the main claim of the book. There are probably hundreds of books that work on balancing your chakras and evening your energy and getting the chakras to spin optimally. This is to prevent certain chakras from being overwhelming and taking on to much as others close or get blocked.
So is this a good use of finding your spiritual gifts? Or is it simply showing the chakras in your system that aren't getting enough energy or love?
Overall, this was a miss for me. I was expecting more detailed and thorough tests and more complete profiles. Which maybe was asking too much. But being more used to spiritual tools like Numerology, Astrology, Human Design, and even the Enneagram I was hoping for something more layered.
It did have some good questions in the workbook sections but nothing that was super eye-opening. I think most will be better off going for one of the fore-mentioned systems to learn about spiritual gifts and purpose.
This is a great beginner's guide to shadow work. It is gentle and lovely and an easy read.
Is recommend is to baby witches trying to figure out where to begin with shadow work!
But for me most of it was repetitive as I've been on this path for quite a while. The meditations are wonderful though and I think most of us can benefit from those!
I'm a graphic designer of 14+ Years and I recently started doing interior book design again which I haven't done since I started my career, so the type setting section was absolutely gold!
It's hard when certain things are generally just passed from designer to designer and not put into writing.
This book should be on everyone's desk! I'll refer back to certain areas more than once.
Whether you're new or old as dirt in the design world this book will have a rule or 2 that you could use a refresher on! And more than a few that aren't easily accessible in print anywhere else it seems!
Not anything new
To be fair I'm not sure what my expectations were. I think I wanted more of the mindset, but wanted new teachings that were life changing.
So basically, if you're incredibly new to writing or researching writing this could be great. If you've read widely on these things there's nothing new here. And there are more complete books that cover these topics.
Holy crap! This is simple, to the point, and everything you really need for law of attraction or magic!
I highly recommend reading this alongside of Steering by Starlight by Martha Beck! Martha's tools will help a TON with your beliefs and help you avoid as much back sliding.
They just go together really well, and both are books I think everyone should read. I really mean that. I want to get 100s of copies of both and just hand them out to people! Lol.
I've been studying self help and law of attraction for literally over a decade. And if I had found these two/four books early on, I probably would have stopped there. Okay, maybe not, but I would have needed less guidance and would have been busier doing than reading.
Biggest tip is do the exercises. Take your time. And this will work. Period!
Felt like a first draft
First, I'm not a huge stickler for perfect edits but there are a lot of errors that would be caught easily by one pass of even a beginner editor. It bugs me when it seems like something is just written without any attention to details before uploading.
Second the sex scenes are kinda odd. Both too short and done weird word choices. I'm not a fan of the word puss for pussy. Cause puss is seepage from a wound. So, not for me.
Last the whole thing felt like a personal fantasy written down. There wasn't much plot of reasoning. I think part of this was due to just being super short. So it did feel like someone wrote a first draft and just didn't go back and add the story elements to me.
It you're just looking for smut this might be okay. But for smut only if like more intense longer sex scenes personally.
1.5 stars because writing isn't easy and she'll probably get better and better with time!
It's not a bad overview for new self published authors to better understand design elements of books. For those looking for a clear how-to you'll be disappointed. This is mostly geared to helping you hire a good designer and /or formatter for your book.
It will also help you know the language used by designers. This will help in knowing what to prepare before looking to hire and things to look out for.
Definitely worth the read for any newbie indie authors.
I'd give it 4 stars for a true newbie but anyone with a bit of tech savvy will find a lot of this unnecessary.
I personally was bummed to see all formatting described with word which notoriously provides awful coding for ebooks because it's not designed for print formatting.
I would have hope for scrivener at least.
That said there's great info for beginners and a few things I noticed that were a bit different.
So, if you know nothing about self publishing on Amazon and haven't done further research this could be very handy.
But if you've been researching for a while there's nothing really new here. And there's no indepth discussion on keyword research or promotion. And I think he makes it seem a bit too easy to be successful which will be disappointing to some.
There's some really helpful info. And if you're new to better eating this might be a game changer! For anyone not new to gut health or cleaner eating it's probably nothing new.
That said for my personal tastes a lot of the recipes are no goes. I have a shellfish allergy which takes a number of recipes away. There's some things I'll try but overall a lot will probably never happen in my kitchen.
The best parts of the book are the indexes so you can see the ingredients that help your mood and go from there.
I live in an rv so I try to buy only what I need and I'm neurodivergent so safe foods are important for me. Meal plans often backfire because I can't make myself eat something I don't want. With these recipes and meal plans I wouldn't be able to fit it in my fridge. I tend to go for repetitive meals and items I can use in multiple things.
I'd love to see something like this for people on a true budget with limited space and limited time.
Too simple, not as detailed as I was hoping
I should have looked at the page count, but I got excited at the title. I'm working more on integrating reiki and eft, so Chakra eft sounded perfect.
I was expecting an eft scripting book. Multiple issues or triggers that could be for each Chakra. This is a common format for eft books.
This is NOT that. It does have scripts. Exactly one setup and one reframe for each Chakra and that's it.
Also, without any scale testing prior to scripts there no way to mark progress. Finding a scale that works for you and your clients is key to effective eft. That goes for self guided eft as well.
So this is a disappointment but it gives me a direction to look further into.
Moral of the story always check page counts before buying, especially for educational books!
I'm breaking my own rule on not rating DNFs usually. Why?
For one this was lent to me by a friend. I read it on her kindle. The formatting is unreadable. I thought the reviewer on Amazon was being an a** about that but he wasn't. This is all blocks of text with no paragraphs, editing was needed and not used, and the TOC was indeed messed up. This was on my friend's kindle which she had not updated in a long time so maybe this was fixed in later editions, I don't know.
Two, this immediately read as a self-important Boomer telling the kids what's wrong with media nowadays. Evidently, “no one” finishes books or movies anymore.
Three AND worse yet, her “unique qualifications” have nothing to do with writing fiction or being in publishing. She was in TV and then much later an “editor” which is surprising considering some of the obvious style issues.
Did I mention self-importance? She immediately goes in on how important her book is, how it's basically already a seminal work. But then each “chapter” is just a page of text. Usually with little actual value IMO.
It is a huge pet peeve of mine how many people decide to write books on writing and only use examples from TV and movies. The storytelling of novels is the same in many ways and just as different in many more and to really nail fiction novels you should be using fiction novels as examples. And maybe when she said Writer's advantage she meant screenwriters. But that should have been said!
I did not finish as I skimmed many chapters and saw very little reason to punish myself trying to read one of the worst formatted ebooks I've ever seen. Save your eyes and read something by actual writers. I'd recommend the Trope Thesaurus by Jennifer Hilt, 7 figure fiction by T. Taylor, and John Truby for people that don't talk down to you and are far more qualified to speak on genres in writing fiction novels.
There is good info here, simple and directly given with wonderful recommendations of further reading.
Sadly this is somewhat dappened by the feeling of a sales pitch for liquid luck meditation CD. You get teased the script in this book in pieces.
So really this is more of the why behind how the meditation works than a standalone work.
He consistently reminds you of his workshops and meditations every few paragraphs in places.
Still good information and there are some good exercises. And I think it's a nice pick me up book of inspiration.
This book was twisted and unique.
The female characters were done beautifully and I loved this completely different twist on the legend. It is weird, somewhat erotic, and thoroughly unique.
Well worth the read and a book I still think about quite a bit.
I rarely give 5 star reviews.
Some books are short and easy to read because they only include the good stuff. This is one of them.
While sure you get the typical overview of loa that is seemingly required, but you also get some new takes and different angles.
After studying Magick and loa for close to 2 decades it's hard to find new takes or fresh ideas. Why keep reading then? Because you never know what one line or different phrasing will trigger a big change.
I'm working on new systems for loa and my planning. And this gave me some new ideas as well as validation of a few of my hunches.
I'd recommend to beginners and more advanced folks. A review can never hurt and his points of definitions and lucid dreaming are fantastic!
Super cute read. She does a great job at making you care about the characters in such a short amount of time. You get the feels and the steam! Perfect combo!
I think this is great for beginner beginner's. A lot of the info here will be seen in a variety of books on writing romance.
Still, I think this is worth it for the more niche tropes and for the personal insight that the author has had in this genre. Especially, given that this genre is basically exclusively self-published.
It also gives a great list of books to read to see what books and what stories do well. This genre is blowing up more and more for good reason. So this is worth the money to see what to avoid and how to structure.
I also think the structure laid out here is easy to overlay with other writing formulas, in my case, Save the Cat.
I'm looking forward to reading her fiction work!
Perfect for absolute beginners. If you are tech savvy or are familiar with dragon this is too basic. Still has a few gems though that I saved and if you're in KU it's worth a browse!
Simple and to the point with extended techniques
Regardless of being new or a veteran of loa, this book makes some interesting connections. There are multiple gems within!
Well worth the quick read! I'll never stop reading books on this subject as you never know what a different way of explaining something can do to your understanding. Also, as someone who occasionally teaches loa multiple way of explaining it and it's principles come in handy!
I'll be reading the rest of the series for sure!
It's quick but the tips are solid. I'd recommend reading it on scribd with her other books. They all are quite short for nonfiction.
Table of contents is broken/not correct
There's some good info depending on the type of marketing you want to do and what works for you. Definitely more of an overview than super specific in depth info. She does pitch a course at the end.
The table of contents is screwed up and lists untitled multiple times and is in the back of the book. Very annoying to not be able to find sections easily.
If you know about dragon and understand mic setup this book won't offer anything new. It's an okay starting place for absolute newbies tho.
Every writer should read this! This is a helpful guide to get you started on self-edits and also gives a clear view on what kind of editor to hire. Your writing will improve if you follow this!
I think a lot of us are realizing Hustle culture isn't working for them. This is a good first step towards a less stressful marketing plan that is more in alignment with values.
That said the author admits that this is new, so none of it is really proven yet for the long term. Doing things differently comes with risk, but everything is well researched and well developed!
I feel it's worth the risk to go into a better way of doing business!
