4.75 stars. This is the rom-com I needed in my life. It's like a big hug. That being said... It gets a bit old when one of the main characters (Aiden in this book) clearly needs therapy making him kind of a dick to everyone around him. I loved that Lucie the FMC is in a male dominated field (as I am as well) and her chilf wasn't a sniveling shit head.
Over 40 main characters?!? YES PLEASE!
Apparently, this book is only 300 pages long but it felt a lot longer and not necessarily in a bad way. I found it hard to pick up and keep reading and I think it was because I didn't really like the FMC (Leelo) until the endish of the book. I wish she would have stopped babying her daughter and stand up for herself. Riodan was decent... I think. There were a lot of side characters.
I so.... Disappointed. This book was anticlimactic and I struggled to feel the chemistry between Fionn and Rose. Also, Rose seemed to be the weak link in this book constantly messing up. Serial killer is not her Forte. I HATE that in the end Fionn starts working for Leander. It was completely unnecessary.
This was my first Catherine Cowles book and I am so delighted! I did find it a bit hard to get into but the second half of the book was excellent. Things that pissed me off... Rho (FMC) (and I find this happening in many books) refuses or fights against security measures even tho her life is in danger. Like Why? Anson (MMC) I thought was decent. Was a dick at the beginning but I felt like he became better towards the end. Side characters were great.
Spoilers ahead********
<spoiler>I found it a little bit hard to believe that the serial killer Anson was tracking for years was also the kid that killed Rho's family. Anson just happened to pick THAT town to live to after leaving the FBI and it JUST happened to be where the guy not only lives but grew up!?!? </spoiler>
Well, I enjoyed this book more than all the others in the series.
So Xavier claims to be in love with her for years, begs her grandmother for Sierra's hand in marriage and then turns out to be a shitty life partner. Refuses to communicate (unless its sex) then when SHE goes through something traumatic he's the one to push her away. Ugh... Wtf.
I need to stop jumping into books blind. This is a sad book. I felt sad from page 1 until page 308 (when it ended). Cancer fucking sucks and life is hard.
The writing was good. The characters were good. Deacon is a bit emotionally stunted but had growth. Julian seemed a bit young in mentality but also grew. I do hate that Julian did not read the letters left for him by Rhett (his late boyfriend and Deacons brother). I would be devestated if I hand wrote letters to ppl before I died and they refused to read them 😢. I'm so thankful this book had a happy ending because DAMN!
First half of this book was a five-star read. I enjoyed the sassy female character even though her name is Misery which was absolutely ridiculous. I feel like World building lacked a little bit but was able to push through. The male main character's name was Lowe 😩 also interesting. I did like the concept of the book. I felt like 3/4 of the book was sort of slow going and then all of a sudden the end was so rushed to pull it all together.
I almost DNF'd this 😩. I did not like how it started and I struggled with the writing but I'm sooo glad I stuck through it. I picked it up not knowing what it was about but was told it had ‘older' characters (46 & 52). I loved that this book had good communication. If something was said or done there was a talk through it scene. I love that. The MMC (Madigan) seemed emotionally mature ❤️. The FMC (Ashley) struggled but was actively trying to be a better version of herself.
It was enjoyable. I liked the setting (mountains etc). Downside is that it was so incredibly long and filled with so much filler. I found the FMC to be quite hard to handle at times considering she was supposed to be 33. I feel like Tobias Rhodes changed personality wise drastically from beginning of book to end of book (which is not necessarily a bad thing). I liked all the side characters.
Listen, I'm easy to please!
I would not call this a dark romance. Josh was an absolute Golden Retriever. He became such a good cat dad 😂. Both main characters are tolerable. The second half drags on a wee bit but overall I was entertained. I listened to the audio book and the narrators (Elena Wolfe & Jacob Morgan) did a phenomenal job.
Let me start off by saying that I LOVE Stephanie Archer books. The Queen's cover series? One of my favourite go to ever! Behind the net? LOVED! That being said this book just wasn't it for me. It took me a very long time to get throu. I found myself frustrated with the characters consistently throughout. I talked myself out of DNFing it multiple times. I'm giving it 3 stars but that could be generous.
Yes! I swear this woman could write the phone book and I'd be hooked! 5 stars!!! Weston (MMC) is the best kind of book boyfriend. Skylar (FMC) is raised spoiled (rich and famous) but is an actual decent, strong woman. Sometimes having a crap memory is OK because it means I'll get to reread this book and enjoy it all over again.
I..... I feel sad. This child went through something horrific and then instead of telling her everyone she loves abandons her. Like WTF, don't care if they claim it was to keep her safe.
Then of course the MMC claims to love her and only her but sleeps with all the woman in their small town. I wouldn't want to live there after. He made me so angry.
Holy tolitos that was a loooong book. Wow. The middle dragged on for a long while and then I started to skim towards the end.
I enjoyed the world building but REALLY struggled with the relationship between Wynter and Kham. After all that time rriiiiiiight up until the end there is still no trust. It was so frustrating to read about how angry they were and instead of working it out they just had sex.
AHHHHHHH. I don't even know how to rate this. I've put 3 stars but is it?!?!?
I ABHOR communication problems in books. Like Why!?! I almost DNF'd this multiple times. The FMC is an impulsive liar to an extreme. She literally just lies to everybody because for some reason that's easier than just telling the truth. I'm so irritated.
