"A perfect dark cowboy romance. I loved Jake's dominance and pure love for Conor. I loved the estate and ranch. I loved the swoony sexiness. 5 Stars." ~ Pepper Winters, New York Times Bestselling Author I try to forget her. It’s impossible. Growing up together, Conor and I shared all our firsts. First love, first kiss, first... Not all our firsts. We were sixteen the night she was violently assaulted while I helplessly watched. I’ll never forget the sounds of her suffering. She doesn’t know my dark cravings or the trails of sin that lead to her. I don’t deserve her, but one truth remains. She’s mine. Afaik no content warnings in the book, so here's one for ya;
Sexual assault of a MINOR (17/16 years).
HARD DNF, fuck that shit. First AND last book from this author.
Girliepops, no. That's not how you write books, especially if they're of the dark romance category. Say it with me;
I..... I feel sad. This child went through something horrific and then instead of telling her everyone she loves abandons her. Like WTF, don't care if they claim it was to keep her safe.
Then of course the MMC claims to love her and only her but sleeps with all the woman in their small town. I wouldn't want to live there after. He made me so angry.
I'm going to be very honest, the writing was not very good. There were so many times I cringed at how bad it was. The first 3 pages was full of variations on the word "Knot" like we get it, the book is called "Knotted" but you could have used a word that fit better here. The plot was barely there and full of plot holes. If I'm reading a dark cowboy romance, I want my cowboy to do cowboy shit and not just every 100 pages so that we remember he is a cowboy. I finished the book quickly, felt really bad for the FMC Connor but other than that it was just an okay kind of book.
Also, if anyone is going through the same traumatic issues that she is, please seek professional help. It's okay to not be okay after going through that. It honestly feels like every man in Connor's life forgot that a therapist is an actual occupation? Like seriously dude, you can be her support system but she need professional help.
