For most of the book Shelby is complaining about Jay because he makes a mess and isn't a great roommate. I understand the concept and that this is the point of the book, but it is getting a little ridiculous. How does a 26 year old not know what a feather duster is or how to start a laundry machine? Shelby has even called him a man-child, yet also admits her crush didn't start until he moved in. So... he is a disaster as a roommate, but seeing his abs on the regular make him crush-worthy, gotcha.
NO!
Sorry, but this doesn't work for me. I need there to be more– especially for a friends-to-lovers. If anything I see this friendship ending in fire.
I'm sure that things will get better now that the agreement has been signed, but if I can't even believe in the beginning of the crush, I don't see how I can believe in their building romance.
This one just pushes my buttons. If I didn't have 10,000 books out from the library, I might push myself to read more, but I don't got the time to read books I might not like.
What was it that had me done with this book?
Why did I have a crush on him again? I was a great mystery.
Like... if you don't even know at all why you like him and get annoyed at everything he does, how do you like him? It isn't a crush, it is lust over the bod.
It is rare when I dislike the male MC, but... yeah. A fourth of the way into the book I need something to prove he is worth liking, or at least somewhat responsible...
Anyhow, I did laugh at some of the dialogue. It can be witty and some of the quips are fantastic. I almost pushed through because of that. So, if you like great dialogue, cute quirky romances (because yes, I see how it could be cute and giggle-worthy) you should give this one a try! REALLY! That's why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 or 1.5. It has potential to be better and could have been getting better when I gave up. And because I see this, I'm not writing Emma Hart out, I'm totally going to try another one of her books.
