JFC what did I just read? This is everything I hate in a book and yet I gobbled it up. What is happening to me! This entire book made me so angry and yet I could not put it down. It's fucking intense and has all the TW. No idea why I read it or even picked it up. Ok, I didn't really know about it before I started the read. I have tried to read a handful of books with these TW and always DNF but this book kept me captivated from cover to cover. Weeeeellllll, almost... It did drag on quite a bit. Could have taken it 100-150 pages for sure.
No words....only my Zade....he is himself a fucking standard....but my love for this book is not only because of him because...this book feels like a fucking goddamn thriller itself so many things happening in one place,......my godddddddd I am still gasping
i don't really know what happened here.
i think that after two weeks of trying and only reaching 30% of the book, i've understood that it's not the right time for me to read this story.
maybe I'll try again next year.
I decided to write this review as a way of self-expression, therapy, and sharing my personal opinion. Reading is meant to be a deeply personal experience, one where each reader embarks on their own journey of exploration. Labeling how I felt about this book or assigning it a rating feels difficult for me. I could evaluate it based on its literary value, plot, or level of enjoyment and attachment, but none of these criteria seem to fully capture my experience.
I will, however, read the second book in the series.
(MAY ADD MORE THOUGHTS HERE IN FUTURE)
Another dark romance! Feels right for Halloween. There were parts I enjoyed, some I didnt. I probably would have rated this 3.5 stars but there is a gun scene that just isnt my vibe. There was also the hes 12 inches long and a jar of pasta wide.

My first dark romance and I am conflicted. I really enjoyed the storyline and arc but the "darkness" was definitely a hard pill to swallow at some points.
This was one of the best dark romance indie books that I have ever read. I just loved all of the characters. Especially Zade and his drive to do good in his own way. I just can't believe the cliffhanger if left off on.
It's.... Umm... average, maybe even below average standards.
Kinda cheesy, kinda good, a lot of bad and it requires little to no effort from one's brain to read.
I... I Don't know anymore my brain hurts from all the corny smut books that have been coming out over the last 3 years.
No Nonsense Review:
- I have no idea why I read this.
- Anyone who suggests that you read this book doesn't like you very much or respect your time.
- The book begins with a potentially intriguing stalker situation and ends with a MMC conjured from the daydreams of extremist right wing weirdos.
Terrible writing, mediocre plot. Guy spends his life dismantling sex trafficking but turns around and go rapes a girl.
The story is fine. The big amount of translation errors and typos, though, doesn't allow me to rate it higher than 3.
I couldn't find this book at either of my libraries, probably for very obvious reasons, but I don't read book bios. I read this book bc my friend read it, loved it, and I love trying new books.
TLDR; I hate this book but I'm not into that. Poor writing and characters, sexually disturbing. Gave me the ick. This book wants to be “You” and “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
0/5 stars, not for me. We don't kink shame, but the writing, dialogue, character development, and storyline felt so juvenile, corny, poorly developed, awful. I love a good romance book and will stand by poor writing if the storyline is worth it, but this one was so bad I couldn't see beyond the low quality.
I can understand why people would read this book and enjoy it, but if you aren't into that kind of content, I'd just avoid it altogether. But I learned some new vocab like non-con and dub-con, HAHAHa not for me. I'll go back to my lighthearted romances.
The beginning was so intense and visually disturbing, I thought it would get worse, but it didn't, bc she fell in love with her stalker/person that SAs her constantly. The sexual violence is... disturbing, but it captivated me to the point I wanted to know how the book ends. So here we are, I finished the book and absolutely hated every second of it.
The paranormal aspect felt like an afterthought. The gun scene was bizarre/gross/icky.
This book felt all over the place and Z was such a mess of a character. Constantly mansplaining his mission of saving the children, being one of the best hackers... It felt like the author is a big fan of conspiracy theories, doesn't understand actual Satanism, shares oversimplified stereotypes of Satanic blood rituals to spook you, (I can't tell you how many times I rolled my eyes).
It feels like they watched the movie, “Sound of Freedom,” and thought, “I like a big strong man that's into cyber security and goes on missions to save children from sex trafficking, let me spin this into a romance book with hardcore scenes.”
What in the heck!!! This book is very dark, disturbing and totally f'ed up! I was still captivated and had to read on. It is a bit on the immature side when it comes to the writing and it could have done away with a few of the spicy bits (except for the house of mirrors ;p).
If you are triggered easily do not read!
This book was extremely well written. I'll give it that. It's what? Over 500 pages? And I read so easily, so fast, so smoothly.
The 2 star rating is a me problem.
If this had been a thriller I would have probably given it 5 stars. Like I said, I loved the writing. I loved getting to read from the perspective of the stalker.
I didn't even mind the graphic scenes.
It was when it turned into the “romance” part of the “dark romance” that it lost me.
I knew what I was getting into and I just couldn't do it. It's not for me, I can't suspend the disbelief for it to work. I just was angry at Adeline the entire time.
1 whole star for the Gigi plotline that was fab. Love a cliffhanger ending.
All to be said this book deserves to be banned tysm
Q-Anon fan-fic meets stalker “romance”. This book is extremely problematic, absurd, and lacks any character development. There's also zero romance - it's sexual assualt that turns into a forced “relationship” and eventually the stalked gives in to her dark desires and starts a relationship with her stalker. Yet it had sorching hot scenes and good buildup of sexual tension in a dark romance type of way.
I hated Zade's entire exsistence, he's a terrible character and even more horrendously written. What I mean by that is he has zero personality, no backstory, and has contradictary motivations. Zade's entire purpose is rescuing the women and children that are trafficked by the Society. His desire to rescue and protect these victims is so high that he created an entire organization for this purpose. When it comes to Addie he becomes the same kind of sexual predator that he routinely murders - forces her to do things against her will, calls her baby girl, and inflicts fear into her. It's so cringy and uncomfortable.
Coming back after taking a hiatus from reading I wasn't quite sure what to choose to break that hiatus. I chose this book after seeing the hype on Booktok. This book is definitely meant for a specific audience who don't mind the many TW mentions at the start of the book. I would say that this book explores very many areas that border on what's morally right (morally grey lovers this is for you). I would wish the characters had deeper backstories, felt as if the story and its characters were more written superficial rather than deep. I felt that this book received its hype because of the reaction for all the spicy moments (which had it had many) but it lacked in having a well written plot.
