This was part of a series of listening to books in the car whilst ferrying kidlet to afterschool activities, but in the time of Coronavirus that's not a thing that happens any more. I have zero other interest in reading Harry Potter.
When I first read this book I thought it was really good. The second time, however, it intrigued me much more. Lots of things cropped up that I never realized in the first read-through, and there were a lot of things I was aware of reading this a second time because I had read it once before, but there were still many surprises. This book is absolutely fantastic, and very humorous. I love the close relationships all the characters have with each other, and how they all manage to set aside their differences in the end. Also, the book is very suspenseful, and I really enjoyed the intriguing descriptions of all the things the main character had to go through.
If you have already read this book, I highly encourage you to read it, and the whole series, again. It will give you a totally new perspective. If you haven't read the Harry Potter series before, you should definitely consider it. It is a series everyone should read before they die, no matter how old they are, because who doesn't enjoy a wonderful tale?
The 4th in the series is probably my favorite of all of them! It's where HP starts adopting the darker tone it stays true to throughout the 7th book.
I'd say this is my favorite book in the Potter series, mainly because of how many magical creatures are mentioned in it. Sadly the film didn't due this book justice.
Rereading Harry Potter books its always a good idea, I'm so happy a took the decision to reread The Goblet of Fire during COVID-19 quarantine; the news are full of sad and terrifying histories but Hogwarts always fells like home. Some of the words of a well-known wizard about the importance of unity on the face of hard times really spoke to me on the current situation.
Whether you are a lifelong potterhead or not this is a really good book, full of magic, great plot and super interesting magical creatures (with a little pinch of teenage romance).
Harry Potter books always manage to get me all cozy, warm, dreamy✨... And I can't help but appreciate the art of writing fiction. Love the movie but it left out so much.
I'm understanding so many things that were confusing af in the films & that's great! I love HP's world (not jkr)
There's really not much i can say that others haven't said. This book has everything - drama (both HS drama & plot-related suspense), tragedy, humor (mostly bc it's all from Harry's pov), budding romances, foreshadowing, lies & subterfuge, and that one character that everyone hates :)
OH and Hermione being an absolute ICON!!
And NO ONE can forget that glorious Malfoy-ferret scene!!!
Se nota como madura la historia en cuanto a tono, desarrollo y misterios. El torneo de los tres magos enriquece esta historia y el regreso de Voldemort da pie a una nueva historia para la saga.
4th movie is the least favourite part for me, however the novel is just better.
It was 4.75 for me but the Chapter 34 of the will make it 5.
Audiobooks is one of the best medium to for read ng Novels.
So long and boring.
More than ever, Harry cannot do anything by himself, even when people give him major hints.
It is a shame that some mysterious elements are given at the very beginning of the book, and get suddenly answered in the “answers chapter” where everything is explained in an unending tirade.
As a reader, you do not have enough information to figure things out. You are just like Harry, going on and hoping things get explained at some point. Meanwhile, enjoy you childlish arguments and senseless elf-rights strife.
This book should be much shorter.
Additionally, there are many things that don't make sense : Truth serums not used in life-and-death trials, foreign students and directors spending MONTHS in Hogwarths doing nothing are only examples.
Another great book from J K Rowling. Books getting darker as the years pass. Harry comes face to face with death - unnecessary and sudden. He also learns to accept the inevitable with courage; some things simply cannot be changed - a hard lesson for the toughest among us. I also realised that most of Dumbledore's dialogues are “Quotable quotes”, really! Great story-telling. Can't wait to continue the series.
It weirdly took me a while to write this review. I feel like I read this book so quickly and deeply that I felt so much of it. I really loved this book my favorite in the series so far and I will continue to read them.
Firstly, I think that the world really opened up in this book, connecting all of the previous information that we've been building on in the world building of the previous books. By being able to see students from different schools and how the ministry is completely bumbling it's setting up really well for the next book.
For the characters, I really love the tension between Ron and Harry. It was kind of our first time seeing him lose what he thought was his friendship with Ron when in reality it's so much more. When the Weasley come and visit him for the dragon exhibition and he is so shocked that they're there like I think he's starting to actually figure out that there are family out there for him. He just needs to tell them that he loves them and when something goes wrong
Lastly, the end of the book kind of was disgusting finding out that Barty Crouch Junior was being held hostage was disgusting to me. The whole scene with Voldemort in the end was absolutely disgusting. I
'm so excited to read the next book.
Not much to say. This book is sort of the beginning of the end for Harry Potter. With Voldemort now back, it just seems as though there's little that could happen until the final battle. Although? there's three books after this so I don't really know what could possibly happen now.
Overall very good, you'd think that as this point that's just realize that the defense agains the dark arts class is cursed.
It's like 3.5+ for me. It's fine, it takes a long time to get going for the triwizard tournament but when it finally does it rips.
I am not sure why the reporter plot line is there because it didn't add much for me.
But yea it's solid, starts strong with the World Cup then lulls for like 250 pages and then rips through the second and third task for the tournament. I feel like this book could have used more editing.
4.75 ?????? rounded up.
This one moves a bit slower than the first three and took me longer to get through than I expected (it was easier to put down, so I often did). But JKR sure knows how to write a good ending! The last 15% or so was the best part of the book.
In the first 3 books, Harry clearly had a saving people thing. But, in life or death situations, it's easy for a hero to be a hero. Seeing Harry do the right thing as a competitor and as the victim of journalistic liberty makes his character that much more believable.
Age range: 11+
If a younger reader could handle the third book, this one may be no problem. But there are some scenes that could definitely be distressing.
