Cool premise, not a fan of the execution. DNF at 61%

This was my second time reading this, but the first time reading the anniversary edition with the additional content which was amazing. It has a little bit of everything - mythology, folklore, horror, fantasy, science fiction. One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors, would definitely recommend.

Proof that a story doesn't have to be well-written to be good.

I'm writing this review in retrospect. This book was enjoyable enough for me to have committed to reading the entire series. I don't think an entire series was really needed for this story - I personally think just two books would've sufficed.

Blue's character is dangerously close to the manic pixie dream girl trope, so if that's something that irks you keep it in mind before reading.

This isn't a huge commitment as a book, worth reading if you want something simple and entertaining. But don't expect anything groundbreaking.

Samin Nosrat is a likeable narrator, and a good teacher. I learned a lot from this book, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their cooking abilities.
