Tropey but such a classic good time in fantasy (and also sexy sex scenes!!!).
BRUTAL. Me lo he terminado en 8 días (trabajando y con una amiga de visita). Ahora mismo me compro el siguiente. Que pena me ha dado terminarlo y que ganas tengo del siguiente!
first thought was: fucking BRENNAN is ALIVE??? also, please more chapters from xaden's pov in the next one thx
An excellent book. I'm going to get the next ones in the series immediately. This book is one that has been on my radar for quite a while. Wonderfully written. Gripped my attention right from the beginning. The romance part was very very good, but I realise that graphical scenes are not my thing. I like my fiction clean and respectable. Great book, nonetheless!
Just got back into reading after not reading for years, this is a nice, easy to read book that will pass the time and give just the right amount of brain rot to want to continue to the next book, and I'm very glad it did not go with the usual love triangle that I always hated in every other book
update:2025
It’s still not good a book for me. It’s still extremely basic and tropey.
This book reads like “let us take every single idea that is in fantasy and put it in book”. I can't stand this book and I know I'm apart of the 1%. But... omg. Why was this even hyped. Did the author even write this?I would love quality writing and storytelling back... please
The romance was cringe but sometimes good?? BUT THE WORLD BUILDING??? THE DRAGONS??? THE MAGIC???? Oh my lord. I was gonna give 3 stars bc it got rough at the end but the twist made me bump it back up to 4 I did not see that coming omg
The writing just wasn't very strong. When you read a good fantasy novel, you are pulled into the world. I never felt like I had a firm grip on all the terms and lore of this world. It read like a bad YA novel then intense smut scenes. The two parts just didn't flow together well.
Listened to the full cast audiobook.
Ugh. Where do I even start. Yes, the premise of the book is very promising. But the prose is so poorly written. It's as if the author just kept filling up her word count for the day. Also, there are many plot holes. I can accept flawed characters, but the MC couldn't get any more generic and clich??. I tried to give it time to see if it improves but no it just the same over and over. I really wanted this to work for me but unfortunately it didn't.
This was a slog to read through. Unoriginal, trite and very predictable, I could have sworn this was written by a teenager.
The writing style is akin to a blog post and the whole setting is an amalgam of every YA novel mashed into a surprisingly boring paste.
I am definitely not the target audience.
A good kind of romantic slow burn that has the perfect amount of action, humour, and violence to add to the intensity of the story. Loved this book and cannot wait to start the next one!
Admittedly I did not get far. I think I only made it to page 25 before I had to close the book and take a walk around the block to calm myself down.
Fantasy strikes a delicate balance when it comes to content: plot progression vs world-building exposition. Yarros attempted a back handspring on the balance beam and simply face planted.
bruh how did she make a book about dragons boring
nothing happens until the last like 100-50 pages...
the fantasy is wanting
the romance sucks (its just lust no love lol)
like idk who the audience is for this book if u like fantasy u wont like this, the romance again is lacking
also the sex scenes were so CRINK LMFAO how do u cause lightning when you cum :sob emote: thats so cringe omg and i dont use that word lightly
also fated mates/soulmates RED FLAG RED FLAG
the writing sucks ass also. its very YA. i mean i could make a 10 min compilation of every time i died of cringe reading the book easily with how bad the writing is
in conclusion, bad tiktok book is bad shock
Color me shocked, but I liked it. What can I say? I will be reading the sequel.
The story and the dragons and dragon school are fun concepts, but the world-building is paper thin and the characters feel more like late 90s CW teen drama than anything of substance. It's a fun, easy read but could have benefited from a bit longer in the oven. Also, she the author should find a synonym for “subluxate”.
Ultimately I'm not the target audience and that's ok!
Such a good romp. Spunky protagonist, sexy love interest, dragons. Actually glad I don't have the next one already because sometimes it's fun to have to wait!
