Comics basically about every day life that kinda proves being what we usually picture as a perfectly functioning responsible adult being a myth. Her comics I particularly love are either about books or periods because they couldn't be more spot on hilarious! ~Ashley
This entire collection is fun and relatable, it just isn't particularly memorable to me.
I really wish I had enjoyed this more. It was only okay. I probably should have read it earlier, not when I'm barrelling toward my mid-30s. I felt like I related more to how Andersen imagined she would be at 85 than I did to her as a student at 22.
I did enjoy a few of the comics about her uterus plotting against her, but even the humor of that turned sour for me when it switched over to strips about biological clocks and not wanting kids. I mean, you do you, no judgment, but it made me sad rather than making me laugh.
There was only one comic that made me laugh out loud, and predictably, it was about cats.
My opinion: if you're going to read this book, do it in your 20s. Any later than that is too late.
Sarah would have definitely been considered a grownup when I was her age, but the definition of “adult” has shifted forward, perhaps by as much as ten or fifteen years.
Sarah is a mess. A delightful, fun mess. And if you haven't read her, you will love her.
first book of 2020, yay! (or not, since it's a comic)
I have been following Sarah's work on the internet for a long time. Adorakable and relatable introvert and creative mind comic panels are sure to fix your day.
But this book sigh didn't feel right. Maybe I'm being unfair and holding it to high standards, but this book lacked a coherent narrative.
Now before you come for my throat, in my defense, I grew up reading Calvin and Hobbes comic strips in the newspapers. When I finally got my hands on the comic book collections, I was amazed by how well structured they were. Individual comics, while being an absolute masterpiece in itself blended with all the other strips effortlessly to give a collective theme.
This book lacked that. Also, I felt a little cheated at the lack of quantity of comics.
My fav bit was the texture of the cover of the book. The sweater part on the front page, made with actually sweatery material. That was pretty cool and unique. But overall, it was ... alright. Read the whole thing while sipping coffee at IKEA.
Absolutely great
This made me laugh out loud so many times I can't count. The people I think in the waiting room I was at were curious to what was so funny. Highly recommend.
Graphic novels are not really my cup of tea but this is too cute and almost all the pages were relatable so it's a 5 for me. ;)
I really enjoyed this. It was funny and relatable and now I kind of want to purchase my own copy.
Ha ha ha ha okay this was quick and hilarious (and SO REAL omg). Recommended for a laugh.
4 stars this book is so relatable! I love the very simplistic art. Can't wait to read more!
Every clumsy girl like me will relate to it and after every page you will be like this is so me, Which I think is so great about the book.
3.5 stars. Couldn't quite give it 4.
This is a collection of cute comics. Some had me chuckling, some just smiling, but the majority I flipped past without much thought. I don't really understand why this is a book. I've seen a number of these comics online. I feel they work better there. Granted, it's harder to make money online. A book is easier for money.
I think I would have enjoyed this more if there was a theme or order to the comics. Ex. Put all the reading/book comics together. Put the relationship ones together, etc. This just felt like random drawing all put together without much thought.
I guess, in other words... I feel like there could have been more thought put into the book. Doesn't need a lot, but even a message from the author would have been nice.
During the last years I've seen many of these strips on Facebook and I always thought they were hilariously amazing because, let's be honest, they totally tell the truth about our lives.
Like, yeah, I'm not lying.
It's been great to see them all together with others I've never seen before!! :)
I WANT MOARRRR!!
