I absolutely LOVED this series. If any of you are like me, I wanted to read this series because I absolutely loved the movie series (the one with Logan Bartholomew, Dale Midkiff, & Katherine Heigl!) And I have to say that the books are so much better than the movies. The movies don't even come close to explaining how amazing this storyline is!
So the first book starts off with Marty who loses her first husband in a tragic accident. She meets Clark shortly after and he asks her if she will marry him and become a mama to his daughter Missie, then he will pay for her train ticket back home come spring. She accepts and their story goes from there. They of course eventually fall in love and each book afterwards is about their growing family and some of the books barely have Marty and Clark in them.
I am not overly religious and I never thought that I would be so invested in a religious book like these (trust me, there is a lot of religious occurrences throughout the entire series.) But, the way that Janette Oke wrote these books goes to show how godly and wonderful her mind was. You seriously have to get used to the way that the characters talk though, because it is very southern. But, once I got into the books I didn't even notice the accent anymore.
This series was amazing because it showed just how simple life used to be, and how scary as well!! The Davis's endure happiness, pain, loss, suffering, blessings, good fortune, etc. I love how each book is years past the previous book. Janette Oke new how to keep her readers interested. I loved following this whole family and seeing Clark and Marty fall in love and become parents, and then grandparents! It basically follows the two main characters throughout their whole life.
To anyone who is thinking about reading this, I say do it. If it's not your cup of tea then that's ok! But I didn't think it would be my cup of tea either and I am seriously so glad that I read it.
Meh.
This book could've been better. When I read Forever My Girl, I loved it. I can definitely tell that my tastes have changed because this was a total cheese fest. Don't get me wrong, I liked it and it intrigued me to the point where all I wanted to do was sit down and read it but I didn't love it like I thought I loved the first one. I bet if I went back and did a re-read of the 1st one, I would feel differently about it.
I liked the overall story. Katelyn is trying to cope with raising twin girls after her husband, Mason, dies in a car wreck. Harrison is a single dad who is also a rock star that has the hots for Katelyn.
Harrison and Quinn are what made me like this book as much as I did. Harrison is the perfect man & Quinn is the perfect child. I absolutely loved their relationship.
Katelyn was a dumbass bitch. I got so frustrated with her because she was so stupid. She knocked off a whole damn star by herself.
Other reasons why this was a 3-star read:
1. There were quite a few errors in this book. Most books have a couple of little ones but I felt like there were a lot in this one.
2. The ending felt rushed.
3. The ending was too much of an HEA & it made me cringe because it was so cheesy.
I'm still going to read the next book in the series because I want to at least get through all 3 of the boys books. But, I don't know if I'll read anything else past Jimmy's book.
“A shaman,” Ian continued, “is an intermediary between the world of the living, and the spiritual realm. A go-between. Someone who can communicate with spirits – the good, and the evil. I guess you could say that a shaman is a magician, of sorts.”
This novella was awesome!!
Ian hasn't been one of my favorite characters, but I have grown to really like him in the later novels. This novella was set during Christmas time, which I absolutely LOVE! I'm just so happy that Ian finally found someone for himself. He had such a rough time during his youth. The only thing that I wish would've been in this, is him seeing his parents again. But, the author isn't done with this series yet, (& I haven't read the spin-off series yet either) so that meeting is probably coming.
All-in-all I very much enjoyed this novella & it gets me excited for what's to come!!
4.5 Stars
So...this book was pretty fucking great.
AK is super hot and a total badass, he completely had me swooning over him before this book even came out.
Phebe is the reason that I didn't give this book a 5-star rating. I couldn't connect with her character until about 75% through the book. I hated her at first, but once the book told her story I understood why she's like that.
This book made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me mad, it made me feel so many emotions & that's why it's a great book.
I love that you get to see all of your favorite characters. But the part that I'm extremely happy about?
NO. MORE.CULT!!!
I was just so over the cult shit, I mean...it was interesting and all, I was just done with it. Now we're on to bigger bad guys.
All-in-all, I fucking loved this book & this whole series will probably go down as one of my favorite series of all time.
WARNING: This series is not for the faint of heart, the stuff that goes down at the cult is super fucked up. If you get uneasy reading about dark, taboo things. I would probably stay away from this series. Also, this book could definitely trigger someone who has had a similar experience. It is very detailed and can paint a very vivid picture in your mind.
Throughout this whole series, I hated Ghost. Honestly I did.
If you haven't read the series yet, there are spoilers below.
He pissed me off in Fearless when he told Mercy that he would cut Ava off and not pay for college if he didn't leave her.
He pissed me off even further with how he treated Aidan in Secondhand Smoke. (The boxing scene between them?!?! I mean, come on Ghost!!)
And then in Loverboy It was up to Aidan to rescue Tango. I mean, he earned brownie points in that book, but I just felt like I was constantly pissed off at Ghost.
In this book however, I kinda fell in love with him. I was worried that Lauren Gilley wouldn't be able to sway my opinion on him, but she fucking did. As always.
It really did make you understand why he was such an asshole. He became a much better president and father in this book.
I liked seeing Maggie go from proper rich girl to biker babe in this book. She's always been one of my favorite characters, and even if I wasn't initially excited for Ghost's own book, I was excited to hear Maggie's.
This story jumps between past and present, which I usually don't like too much but Gilley does a wonderful job at switching between the two. I thoroughly enjoyed both parts.
All-in-all this was a 5 star read for me.
This is considered a novella, but I've read full novels with the same amount of pages.
I very much enjoyed this one. Instead of it just being about Mercy & his half-bro Colin, it was about Michael & Holly, Ghost & Maggie, Mercy & Ava, & Aidan. Everyone had their own little chapters, I loved it.
Aidan's part was worrisome for me. He's immature but you can't help but love him through all of his fuck ups.
I don't really have too much to say after that, I don't want to spoil anything so i'll just leave it there. Some people skip novella's because they don't find them pertinent to the story. Don't skip this one, it's great. You'd just be missing out.
Eh. No thanks, I couldn't even make it past the prologue. I can tell the writing isn't something I'm gonna be able to get down with. Too proper & the words just didn't flow well. Nothing against the author, just personal preferences of mine.
I really, really wish goodreads had 1/2 star ratings. This book was a solid 4.5 Stars for me.
Lilli is my All-time favorite female character. She put most of my favorite female heroines to shame. She is strong, independent, & she doesn't do bull-shit drama. She's a total badass & just love the way that the author wrote her.
Isaac was cool. But with Lilli being all badass & shit, I kind of overlooked him. He doesn't remind me of any of the MC Presidents that I've read about, they're usually big assholes that take no shit. Which, Isaac doesn't take any shit either, but he's much more laid back. Not a bad thing. Him and Lilli together were awesome. I absolutely love that there wasn't any petty bullshit fights or anything.
I really enjoyed the story itself, I don't really want to go into it too much because I feel like I would spoil something, so Ill just leave it at that.
What I didn't like:
-The age difference. I've never been a big fan of those. I also like to read about characters that are around my age. (Personal preference, not a deal breaker.)
-Too much sex. Now don't get me wrong, I like reading all the juicy details as much as the next person. But, usually at some point they stop describing those sex scenes and just allude to it. I think the author did that once or twice, but I found myself skimming the sex scenes.
-The ending. I don't want to spoil anything but I will say that I feel like a certain somebody got jipped.
Anyhow, those 3 little things won't stop me. I already have the 2nd book bought & downloaded on my Kindle.
[b:The Fallen: Genesis 44591368 The Fallen Genesis (Deadly Virtues, #0.5) Tillie Cole https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1554887657l/44591368.SY75.jpg 69218178] is a prequel to the first book in the series [b:Raphael 46352480 Raphael (Deadly Virtues, #1) Tillie Cole https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1560845706l/46352480.SY75.jpg 69218190]. You HAVE to read this first before you read the first book, or it wont make sense. There isn't a love story in this one. The main character of this book is Joseph/Gabriel. He and his brother are orphans at Holy Innocents Home for Children. Joseph is on his way to becoming a priest, whereas his brother, James/Michael has a deep, deep darkness within him. But Michael isn't the only one with darkness inside him. When Michael does something vile, he gets sent to Purgatory, a place that tortures and punishes their prisoners at the hands of their “Holiest” Priests. There are 5 other boys that are in purgatory too: Barachiel (Bara), Raphael, Selaphiel (Sela), Uriel, and Jegudiel(Diel). This novella was pretty short, I think I read it within like 2 or 3 hours? (& I had to do other things in between.) But, even though it was short, I think that it was a perfect introduction into the series. I'm a huge Hades Hangmen fan & for some reason I kept putting this series off. (Maybe because it wasn't motorcycle related! Ha!) Now, I'm so glad that I picked it up, I can't wait for the other books in the series to come out!
5 Stars!
This was SO good! This is the first book by Amo Jones that I have read & I assure you it won't be my last. I already know that this is going to be one of my favorite books this year. (If not my most favorite!)
I really feel like you need to go into this blind. I wouldn't even know where to begin to write a review with a book like this!
If you haven't read this, just stop what you're doing and go read this right now!!!
DNF @ 31%
Just wasn't really feeling this one, which sucks because I've been trying to find some really good MC Romance.
This one wasn't extremely horrible, just different from what I usually like. I personally didn't like the dirty talk in this one and I couldn't connect with the heroine. She seemed a little too immature for my liking.
Maybe it's just not the right time for me to read this one, I may try it again later on down the road.
I have put off reading this book for years. I just knew that it would be a book that just completely guts you and leaves you heartbroken. I wasn't wrong.
This is a story about David, a little boy who endured the worst kind of abuse throughout his childhood at the hands of his mother. She starved him, beat him, burned him, made him drink chemicals, tried to make him eat literal shit...this bitch was majorly fucked up. He was 1 of 5 children and while his other brothers were treated like kings, he was, in the words of this book, treated as the family slave.
This was a very short book that I read within just a couple of hours. To say that I enjoyed it would be a lie, but it did open my eyes to how bad abuse can be. I do wish that he would have included more of the story. It left me with a few unanswered questions. I want to know why his mother turned on him so quickly and violently. I believe that she may have some sort of mental disability that worsened with her alcoholism. In the beginning, she seemed like the best mother that any child could want, why did she single him out and hate him so much? Since I very much intend on reading the next book, hopefully my questions will be answered.
After doing a bit of research on the author, I realized that this book has gotten a lot of hate. I see that some people believe that he lied about his childhood, or exaggerated the truth. Well, I refuse to be a part of that. In a certain part of this story, his mother called him an It. (Hence the name of the book.) She didn't even see her son as a human being, just a worthless thing. So, forgive me but I WILL NOT take his story away from him. If I did, I would be a part of the problem. Even if he did fabricate some of the story, at least it brought child abuse into a new light. So many people live their day to day lives not knowing how fucking horrible someone else's life has been. Or, they think that child abuse is just a child being beaten, when in reality it can get so much worse.
I recommend this book not because it's good, it's a truly heartbreaking story. But, I recommend this book because I feel that everyone should know what can happen behind closed doors and some of the signs to look for with an abused child.
4 Stars.
If you're looking for a cute & quick read, this is it!
McKinnon is the new girl at school. She's only been going to Ryder High for a couple of months & has no clue about the “secret admirer” tradition that everyone is so obsessed with. However, on the first day of the month there is a teal envelope taped to her locker. Over the course of the month, her secret admirer leaves clues about who he is and she has until the end of the month to figure it out.
I personally figured out who it was early on because of something that was said, but even still, I did enjoy seeing McKinnon figure it out. This little novel was fast paced & It kept me interested from beginning to end. You could absolutely read this in a day. Hell with how short these books are, you could knock out quite a few of these books in a day.
I was going to try and read all of these back to back but I think these will make for good palette cleansers over the course of this year. I look forward to reading the next one.
3 Stars
I wanted to love this one & I actually found it enjoyable for the most part. The blend of romance and horror was quite nice since those are my two main genres. I absolutely loved Leon, and the writing was good.
So....why didn't I love it? One word. RAELYNN.
She took off a whole star all on her own. I swear that this girl's ears were purely for decoration. She listened to NOTHING and got herself almost killed MULTIPLE times. She had no redeeming qualities. I have no clue how Leon fell in love with her.
& when she trapped him in the little demon circle thingy after he had been so vulnerable to fall asleep at her house?? I wanted to fight her.
Hands down, one of the worst female leads that I have ever read. I would have rejoiced if she died at the end of the book.
A few of my other issues were that I felt like their relationship was insta-love. That's okay in certain settings, but I felt like their relationship needed to be more fleshed out. I would have preferred a trilogy (or even a duet) about this couple with the first book being based on building their relationship. Also, the world that the author built could have been really cool and immersive but world building was definitely put on the back burner.
All in all, it wasn't a bad book. I just wanted more from it. (& definitely some redeeming qualities for Rae.)
Why did it take me so long to read this?I know it's only been out for a couple of months, but the way that I devoured the Hades Hangmen series, I should have been on this much sooner. At the same time, I wish I would've waited because now I just want to read an entire series that hasn't even been written yet.Tillie Cole has quickly become a favorite author of mine. I love how she writes dark romance, it's super fucked up but I LOVE it! Raphael is the pretty boy of the bunch. I'm glad that she went with him first, from reading the prequel I could already tell that he was gonna be one of my favorites. I have to ask though, does anyone else get any Black Dagger Brotherhood vibes from Tillie Cole's writing? This book reminded me a lot of BDB & Flame from [b:Souls Unfractured 22107214 Souls Unfractured (Hades Hangmen, #3) Tillie Cole https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1429054401l/22107214.SY75.jpg 41452434] really reminded me of Zsadist. Not that i'm complaining, I absolutely love both series, just wondering if anyone has the same thoughts?Anywho, I don't really want to write much about this book because I feel that if you go in blind, it's so much better. The ending had me like:Everyone that has read this so far is excited about Michael's book. But he was the character that I didn't really connect with. He was very bland to me, but i'm sure that when his book comes out i'll probably be drooling over him by the end. At this point, i'm most excited for Diel's book, he gives me some serious Flame/Zsadist vibes. I will say that I seriously thought that this was more in the fantasy realm of vampires and fallen angels and it's not. I think that's why I wasn't really looking forward to this book series. If you're wondering if you should read it, DO IT!!! Especially if you're not afraid of reading dark material.
Darcy Coates is my favorite horror author. The way that she tells a story will leave you on the edge of your seat and make you jump at every little noise.
This book was no exception. I was lying in bed like:
I wasn't actually sure that I would like this book as much. My type of horror is ghosts. Just straight up spooky bitches roaming the halls and watching you from a dark corner of the room. My least favorite type of supernatural being is zombies. Now, that's not exactly what these are, but they are extremely similar.
This book should have been everything that I despised. I hate reading dystopian, I hate Zombie-like creatures & I don't usually care for romance in my horror books. So, yeah I should have totally hated this one...but I didn't. This book was so well written that I didn't want to put it down. I liked both of the characters even though they were both infuriating at times. The vibe of this story was super creepy. I mean, off the bat you have this spooky ass house & then you have this dark forest filled with creatures outside of it.
The romance aspect was very subtle, but sweet nonetheless. I would definitely recommend this one to people who like horror and dystopian fiction.
Whewww.
MY.FUCKING.HEART.
Let me just say that I was happy with the ending, but damn! This was a roller coaster of emotions for me. It was captivatingly beautiful & fucking heartbreaking.
Let's start with the plot:
Thea is this 21 year old art major with a witty personality. On her sister's graduation day, Thea and her parents load up in the car to watch her sister's ceremony. On the way there, they get hit head on. This car accident claims the lives of her parents & gives Thea one of the world's worst cases of amnesia. She can only remember 5 minutes & then her memory resets itself.
Jimmy is a 24 year old man that got dealt a shit hand very early in life. He was shuffled around foster homes until he was 18. None of his foster parents ever cared for him, especially his last and longest foster mom, Doris. He lands a job at the brain center where Thea is being treated and as soon as they met, he started to fall in love with her, 5 minutes at a time.
I thought that this book was going to be a somewhat lighthearted read. I figured it would be a bit sad, but it would just be one of those sweet love stories. I thought that Jimmy would fall in love with her, she would get a procedure that made her remember everything and then she would get to fall in love with Jimmy & live happily ever after. Boy was I fucking wrong.
This book took a semi-dark turn that I wasn't expecting. One of the scenes completely blindsided me, but thankfully Jimmy mostly saved her.
Also, I wasn't expecting the those fucking sex scenes!!!
This was just a beautiful story & I don't think that I can go any deeper into it without spoiling it for you guys. I absolutely loved both of the main characters & most of the side characters too. I will tell you that I absolutely HATED the sister, Delia. That bitch can rot. I felt that she did not have Thea's best interest at heart, only her own.
I think that one of the saddest parts of this story was just how well the author wrote about this condition. To just have 5 minutes to live your life and then....not remember it. You have to start all over again, and again, and again. It's truly heartbreaking.
“The alone-ness. It's not the same as loneliness. Alone-ness is an abyss. It's being alone even when you're surrounded by people. It's vast and empty and silent.”
Thank you, Emma Scott. I truly adored this book. However, I probably won't be reading another one of your stories for a little while since this one put me through the ringer. But, kudos to you for actually making me feel that way. What's a book without some emotion, right?
Oof. What a doozy.
Let me preface this review by saying that this wasn't a bad book. This book was just totally NOT for me. The only reason why I even drifted out of my preferred Genre is because it's my book club book and I'm trying VERY hard to read all (or at least most) of them this year.
This book was a very fast read & the pacing was great! I unfortunately was just bored for most of it. I didn't connect with any of the characters and I pretty much figured most things out early on, so I never had that “AHA!” moment. If it wasn't a book club book, then I would've DNF'd it within the first couple of chapters.
I am glad that I finished it and I look forward to discussing with my Book Club peeps & seeing what they thought of it.
5 Stars!!!
This book was SO GOOD!!!
It definitely helped that it had a few of my favorite tropes. For one, the girl is running away from an abusive relationship (bonus points: she's pregnant!!), and secondly there's something a little off about our H. Not in a psycho sorta way, more like he's a bit on the autism spectrum.
This book was a sloooooooooooooooooooow burn, but definitely worth it in my opinion. This is a book that I will re-read when it's not so fresh in my brain. Definitely one of my favorite reads of the year!!
Already a month into 2020 & I'm FINALLY doing this review. Sorry guys, I know I'm a big ol' slacker.
I have to say that 2019 was fucking great! SO.MANY.GOOD.BOOKS!!!
My Stats:
I read 18,497 pages across 56 books.

I was very happy with my reading choices. I found my all-time favorite series (so far), which is:
The Hades Hangmen Series by Tillie Cole
I DEVOURED these books. Tillie Cole did an amazing job with the overall story and the characters.(Flame, Hush & Cowboy. OMG, Motherfucking Swoon.) This has a dark ass story line, it's not just about a bunch of badasses in an MC, it deals with something that most of us tend to overlook but know they're out there. Cults. Religious Cults. It was hard to read at times, it dealt with some hard topics such as: Rape, Pedophilia, Racism, and Abuse. It's graphic and it's definitely not for everyone, but there was so much more to this series than the bad shit that happened. Thankfully, it seems that this series is far from being finished. TC still has a couple of characters that she will be writing about in the upcoming years!
The Dartmoor Series by Lauren Gilley
THIS. This series was runner up for best series of the year. There is so much to say about this series that I honestly don't think that I can put into words.
Lauren Gilley makes an author's note at the beginning of these books stating that this isn't a love story. Ehhhhh....yes and no. All of these books have a love story in them, but this is probably the “realest” story about an MC that I have read. Each book was so well written, the plot was well thought out and the characters had such in-depth development.
Favorite Standalones:
These were fantastic. All of them should have a review on them if you wanna know why I loved them so much.
Honorable Mentions:
Most HATED book of the year:
Fuck this book. I know a lot of people liked this one, but I had hella issues with it. I did write a review on it, but continue at your own risk because it contains spoilers. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. Really wished I would've DNF'd it so that I didn't have to put myself through that, but oh well, you live and you learn.
I can only pray that 2020 is as good to me. I'm starting the year off with a really good MC series, so I have hope!
Uhh. Well, Okay then.
This was my first mystery/thriller book that I've picked up since Gone Girl first came out. To say that I don't read too many mysteries would be an understatement. However, when I read the blurb it intrigued me SO much that I just had to read it!!! & I have to say that I'm very glad I did!
Now, since I don't venture into this genre too much, I had no clue whatsoever as to how the ending would play out. (I suck at that kinda shit anyway.) I've read some reviews and I saw that some people figured it out, while others were like me and didn't. But, a majority of readers absolutely loved this book.
I thought that this book was great! It kept me interested & on the edge of my seat most of the time. Books like this make me want to read more in this particular genre. The characters were strong, the storyline was strong, and the ending took me totally by surprise.
I definitely had the “OH FUCK” moment when everything was revealed.
This is a spoiler-free review, so I can't divulge why I didn't give it 5 stars. But, I will tell you that it had something to do with the ending.
If you're on the fence about reading it, I say give it a go. Everyone's different, so you might like it, you might not. It seems that most people do enjoy it though.
I listened to the audiobook version of this novel. Both voice actors were great! I really liked the woman, her voice was perfect!
2.5
Meh.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series but this one didn't keep me as interested. It was short & I was able to read it in a day so that was great. I really like both main characters, but the MC aspect fell short for me.
The Motorcycle Club (MC) trope is my absolute favorite! But with that being said, it makes me pretty picky about what I read. In the first book, I felt that the MC was put on the back burner. I didn't get to know the club too well. We got to know some of the guys but I didn't feel anything for any of them. (I want to be excited for the upcoming books & I can't be because I felt nothing for them.) Also, if they die, I would really like for it to affect me. There was so much death in this book and I felt nothing for any of the men. Mirabella was the only one that I felt for but even then, I didn't shed a tear. With this book, I felt like the author was trying to make up for not putting so much about the club in the first book, and there was just A LOT going on in this one.
I really liked Cade and Indy. I felt that they were both pretty strong characters, and I would have loved reading more about them. These books are just too short and the whole thing just felt rushed which is a shame because the author is definitely a talented writer!
Unfortunately, I doubt that I will continue with this series. However, I will keep my eye out for other books by this author.
2 Stars
Trigger Warning: SIDS, Child Loss, Death of an infant.
While this book held my interest pretty well, I was disappointed that triggers were not mentioned in the synopsis. However, if I would've read a few of the reviews I would've realized it but sometimes I really don't want to read a review beforehand because it can alter my opinion of the book. It's odd, because I use to have no triggers whatsoever. I could just read any and everything and barely bat an eye...but then I became a mom. (I have a 2 year old & I am about 2 months shy of delivering my 2nd child.) Reading something like this gives me major anxiety and I typically steer clear of this topic. It's my fault really, I should have just DNF'd this one but I was invested by the time I realized where it was heading so I just skimmed over the god awful parts.
Anyway, lets move on to the actual book itself. I didn't care for either of the main characters, especially Tina. She was an immature annoying pushover. I found myself rolling my eyes at her so much. Honestly, I was more invested in the side characters story than I was with Harris & Tina's. I was looking forward to the second book with those side characters but I'm truly not sure that I am going to read that one since I was super annoyed by the end of this one.
Unfortunately, it looks like this one will probably be my least favorite of the year.
This was my most dreaded book in the series, because in the previous books Sophia was a bitch and I thought that there was no way that I could possibly like her. Well....I was definitely wrong. The way that Devney Perry wrote Sophia's past really made you understand why she was the way she was. I ended up really really liking Sophia. Dakota was amazing as well. Their relationship made me sad at times & I just wanted to shake them and force them together, but the ending was well worth it.
I'm not sure if there will be anymore books to this particular series or not, if so i'm definitely reading them, but in the meantime I want to pick up her MC series.
4.5 Stars
Yay!! I've found a new MC series!!
I'm already about to start book 3 in this series, so I didn't wanna get too far behind on my reviews & since the first 3 books are about the same couple, I don't wanna get anything mixed up.
This is about Rock & Hope. Rock is the president of the Lost Kings MC & Hope is a Lawyer. When they meet, it's lust at first sight but there's just one teeny problem...Hope is already married, and she's married to a good man nonetheless. Even though she wants Rock, she doesn't cheat on her husband. (Thankfully!) Tragedy strikes and eventually Rock and Hope begin a relationship.
I liked this so much because it's different. I liked that Hope is a lawyer and Rock is “technically” a criminal. I liked that she had a hard time adjusting to his lifestyle. (Because, honestly who wouldn't?) & I LOVE that she didn't cheat on her husband. (& that it took her a while to get over him.)
This book went by quickly and I enjoyed reading every second of it. I'm super excited for the books ahead.
