Darcy Coates is my favorite horror author. The way that she tells a story will leave you on the edge of your seat and make you jump at every little noise.
This book was no exception. I was lying in bed like:
I wasn't actually sure that I would like this book as much. My type of horror is ghosts. Just straight up spooky bitches roaming the halls and watching you from a dark corner of the room. My least favorite type of supernatural being is zombies. Now, that's not exactly what these are, but they are extremely similar.
This book should have been everything that I despised. I hate reading dystopian, I hate Zombie-like creatures & I don't usually care for romance in my horror books. So, yeah I should have totally hated this one...but I didn't. This book was so well written that I didn't want to put it down. I liked both of the characters even though they were both infuriating at times. The vibe of this story was super creepy. I mean, off the bat you have this spooky ass house & then you have this dark forest filled with creatures outside of it.
The romance aspect was very subtle, but sweet nonetheless. I would definitely recommend this one to people who like horror and dystopian fiction.
