cliffhanger ending, insane reality show, etc makes it not worth it
The concept sounded interesting until you get to the reality show. It makes zero sense as a show, but that is about par for the world building. It is essentially Maze Runner with werewolves. Major disappointment made worse by the fact the book just ends in a cliffhanger. Just say no to cliffhangers.
Entertaining and charming read
I stumbled across this and figured I would give it a shot. Overall it was well done and worth the read. I wish the ending had been pushed out just a few more pages since it made sense but felt a bit abrupt in the moment. I look forward to checking out the author's other work.
enjoyable but lonely
While book covers many of the common academy tropes, it was enjoyable. The MC is a completely solo MC though so the school feels a bit empty since there is almost no interaction between the MC and the other students other than for three or four and one quickly disappears after a single encounter.
overall enjoyable
The book was entertaining, but definitely needs another editing pass or two. The story is presented in the first person present tense, but starting with the first chapter doesn't seem to stick to it. The narrative constantly shifts from present to past tense even in the same sentence though this settles somewhat as the book goes on, and later in the book even shifts from first to third person in the same sentence. This at times leads to some confusion about who or what is actually being mentioned.
I will definitely give a sequel a try.
Not bad but has some issues and needs another pass
The story wasn't bad, but some of the English is rough. I don't know if this is translated or if English just is the author's second language. There is some odd phrasing and slightly incorrect word choices or tense. For example own is used a lot when it should be owe and resume when it should be summary or something else. I am also not sure who the cover is supposed to be.
great start with only one complaint
In some ways it is a great ending and makes perfect sense, but in another I think it takes away from what was a great book. It sets up well for the next book. Book 2 is already up for preorder, but I haven't checked the actual release date to know how long the wait will be.
