On the road to reading ever Abby Jimenez book, I found myself finishing this quick novella today! The audio was extremely cute and would recommended. I used to adore novellas but the much needed character and relationship development that isn't usually found in 60 pages is something I enjoy. Regardless, super cute and the relationship was worth my hour listening!
There's really not much to say about this beyond the fitting blurb. It's a nice little story of little consequence and length. If you like the author's other works, you will neither regret reading this one nor missing out on it. This made me cry, it's all of what - 60 pages? - and it had me in tears. Definitely reading more Abby Jimenez, even if I wasn't sold on the last novel I read. Holly is a carer who's looking after her gran in her final days. Someone leaves a valentine's day card on her windscreen and Holly discovers she has a mysterious knight in shining armour.
John's helping his brother out, he's the maintenance guy in another building but keeps leaving notes on Holly's car and doing good deeds to help her out. They meet once but don't realise who the other person is until Holly has a problem with her fridge in her own building.
There was a lot of emotion in a short space of book and anything that can make me feel so deeply for so few words deserves the credit.
I did not quite enjoy the book. However, I loved the beautiful setting as described in the story. It's about dealing with death of the grandmother, which made it sensitive and heartfelt, but instead of being uplifted, it only left me feeling sadness. Although there were some controversial aspects of this novel that I found mildly displeasing, I decided to ignore them so as to concentrate on what this story wanted to convey. Though it was fine to read, it didn't have enough strength to change my mood or influence me for long.
Stayed up too late reading
This was another win in the Improbably Meet Cute collection. I loved the story and the back and forth. The way it was written was engaging.
All the characters are great and you get to know them quite a bit, which is surprising given the length of the book.
This one did feel a little more rushed then Book 1, but I still loved it.
The writing was really cute and is making me seek out other works from this author, so 4 stars it is.
It starts when John leaves a V-Day card with an inappropriate coupon on Holly's windshield. I thought the note and gift exchanges were extremely cute! I loved their interaction before they knew who each other was. And I was waiting for a serendipitous meeting at the end, and it was delivered!
Ahh I was so surprised when it ended. I forgot I was listening to a novella, I was all in! It was very cute, I liked this one.
