I'm not sure what the author could have done differently, but by this point the books are being bogged down by too large a cast of characters. If each of the 9 are going to be so different in temperament, then they must have differences in their backstory. I would have preferred more insight into the individual backstories. The plot is still engaging, however.

Younger readers may find it a little too violent.
I have to say, it makes me incredibly sad that there was so much controversy attached to the authors of this series. I felt guilty reading each book and ultimately deciding to finish the series and continue beyond this one after the controversy.
It makes me sad because the entire series has been a wild ride. It was a nice ride. I'm a bit conflicted by how everything turned out specifically with one incident. I don't want to read into it but it almost felt as if there could be a hidden message attached to a certain death that has occurred.
Either way, I'm going to miss this world. I haven't moved on to the other books even though I've already purchased them. Perhaps I won't miss this too much having those books waiting for me. We shall see.
Read them. You won't regret it. I wish they would have continued with the movies. They too would have been awesome.
The pace of the final battle and aftermath were nicely done. The two narrators did a great job relaying the emotions of their characters as well.
Untuk sebuah novel fantasi endingnya gk seperti harapanku. Okeylah untuk sebuah final battle pasti ada korban jiwa atau cacat atau sakit hati. Namun kenapa ada yg mempunyai ending happily ever after sedang yg lain mempunyai ending yg pahit, bahkan no 4 sbg leader, titisan Pittacus Lore gk memiliki pengampunan untuk no 5, pdhl no 5 sdh menebus penghiatannya dgn bertempur habis2an.
No 6 bersama Sam pd akhirnya, pdhl no 6 di momen akhir ketika no 4 sdh siap mengorbankan nyawa, menarik no 4 dr medan perang & menghabisi Setrakus Ra.
Ya sdh untuk sebuah fantasi petualangan & action, John Frey dkk okey, tp untuk bumbu romancenya, kurang deh menurutku...
Akan ada spin off seri ini, menambah daftar penulis yg gagal move on selain Cassandra Clare, Rick Riordan, Brandon Mull, Soman Chainani, ....
I was hoping for a more epic ending. But this had signalled a crash since The Fate of Ten. That means two years worth of waiting wasn't worth it. Am I bad mouthing this book? No. I am giving an honest review. As sad as it is. It didn't live up for the first few books. I mean, come on, nevermind all the cliffhangers on the other books, at least they were page turners.
At 53 % I was saying that I wouldn't be surprised if Four gets killed before the book ends but then I realized a good story needs stupid characters to go on. Not that John had been the entire series but he had been drifting off and getting into my nerves! He needed to snap out of it! But I guess it was of good use.
Real action only started happening at 75% which I think had been delayed... for what?– The anticipation was there; but I feel deprived of the greatness this should have been. Six said “All my anger, years and years of suffering and fear, I pour it into this storm.”, but all the years of waiting for what, 60? 80 pages of action combined? I needed 350 of it. And I'm disappointed not to have got that.
It ended like how I guess everybody wanted it to. Spoiler alert: It had a happy ending. But then a happy ending for me would have been more deaths. I wanted to like what happened but I didn't and I'm glad this is all over.
PS. I can't get over with the fact that legacies were given AT RAMDOM. Fuck that shit. Would have been cool to know how the new gardes were chosen.
I (might not) am not picking another book series again until it's all released and finished and shit. The waiting game is exhausting.
Wow. I can't believe after all this time this series is finally over. I think I can say that this was a very fitting end to the series. You can really see how the war is affecting them, especially John. The whole book was filled with John and the others being badass of course, but they really have to push themselves. It's easy to see their struggle to save the planet and stop the bad guy. Speaking of stopping the bad guy, I think the way it was done was beautifully ironic John uses healing to stop him . Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for this book because I thought the previous books kind of got progressively worser, but this one proved me wrong. I don't want to give anything else away actually one thing that kind of surprised me was that no one else dies except Setrakus and Mark but this book was an excellent ending and it will not disappoint.
