Viola and Jesse crossed paths years earlier at an interview. Now their paths align again to co-create a video game as lead designers, but first they have to show they can get along. <spoiler>A whirlwind romance after discovering they’ve both been pining for the other for years. The reveal that he asked her out the first time they met was adorable. Everything else felt rushed, but it seems like that’s the result of the condensed story versus there not being more to say. </spoiler>
I enjoyed this Ali Hazelwood story mostly for the fact that it centred around video games. The winter lodge and skiing was also fun to hear about! Listening to an Ali Hazelwood novel, however, was a bit of a strange experience for me. I'll definitely buy a physical copy of this if it gets released though. I also loved the story that the game-to-be centres around.
The premise is cute, and the execution is good enough. However, parts of the book felt a little clunky, and the ending left me wanting a true conclusion to this story. The main characters feel pretty one-dimensional.
It was a quick, easy read and oh-so-steamy. The spicy scenes were well-written and felt realistic.
For a novella, it is pretty good, but I really didn't understand their actions most the time.
<3 Ali Hazelwood, but this one wasn't for me. The "misunderstanding" was just not believable, in my opinion.
