The Stillwater Girls

The story lines were split. The one about the girls was entertaining, but the one about the husband and wife got a bit tedious and infuriating. The end was worth it though.

I’ve only ever read one other Minka Kent book and that book didn’t disappoint, this one didn’t either. This book is told from Wren and Nicolette’s POV, both unknown to each other until later on in the book. From the very beginning I disliked Nicolette’s husband, and it was easy for me to suspect him of A LOT of things, some that he had nothing to do with. NOTHING… and I do mean NOTHING could’ve prepared me for the revelations or that ending. I felt so bad for Nicolette once we found out what her medical emergency had been and even worse for suspecting her husband of so much, he wasn’t guilty of. I was very glad that they got their happy ending. I for one love when I have to keep second guessing my predictions and I did that a lot throughout this story. It was short but it was so good, I simply couldn’t put it down.

I would have to give this 2 1\2 stars. I have to admit I was engaged and excited to see where the story would go. I quickly realised that the story has a very clever premise but the writing is lacking and it's very unrealistic and almost lazy. This could be a killer story, a potentially really captivating twist and darkness could have been achieved. It reads like a first draft of something with genuine potential but it's really not a terrible read, just disappointed.

This was a thrilling page turning novel. I loved it, the twists and turns. I loved the girls stories, and even after the ending I still didn't love one character. Even after you found out they weren't a bad person.

Would of given it a 5 had it been a little longer and better epilogue. Im sucker for epilogues.

I enjoyed it, but it felt rushed. And the ending felt a little bit too far out for me to fully believe it. How did Nicolette's entire family (and her friends, and the TOWN - not to mention her doctors) manage to hide the fact that she had an entire child, gave it up, and then promptly forgot about it?? Even more puzzling is the fact that she somehow accepted this bizarre explanation when her husband countered her suspicion of him having an affair.

I enjoyed this book very much. We meet two sisters Wren and Sage who are left alone in their cabin while their mother leaves to find medical care for their younger sister Evie. When the girls are discovered by a stranger they flee the only place they have ever known. They find the home of Nicolette who is in despair fearing her husband has been cheating on her. Wren and Sage turn Nicolette's life upside down and the truth of their life comes to light.

I would have given this book five stars but the truth about Nicolette's husbands deceit was a bit unbelievable. In the end this story was worth the read and I am glad to have discovered it.

In Thin Air was a book I enjoyed so I needed to continue the series. Two sisters have been kept from the outside world their entire lives. Mama forbids Wren & Sage from contact with anyone; they live in squalor; a cabin without plumbing or water, and food is scarce - only what is grown & livestock they tend. Their clothes are threadbare and they are malnourished.Wren & Sage also have a little sister, Evie, but don't understand how she got there or where she came from. One day she was just there. Then Evie becomes very ill & mama leaves the girls to get medical help for Evie. Months go by & they never return Why did mama leave them to die? Then a male visitor shows up. They don't know him but he seems to know mama. And he has his own plans for the girls. Forced to face their fears of the unknown, they escape into the wilderness of Stillwater forest. From there, Wren & Sage discover that life outside the forest is nothing like mama said. Follow Wren & Sage into new lives that intersect with wonderful people, all willing to help. Even the police are trying to find mama & Evie. But there are secrets and more questions; nothing is clear. Did mama lie to them about their lives? Why would she leave them to die? Who can be trusted in their new world? This was one book that I really wish was a movie because honestly this was a great read. The story was written well and I will be doing more Minka Kent in the future. The writing is smooth and enjoyable five starts all the way. .
