Definitely wanted more out of this. It's in between a novella and a full length book.
I wanted more depth and just....more in general. It was very fast paced and had potential to be really interesting monster romance
Dragons, contracts, smut, oh my!
As silly as a Dragon Romance may seem, it is just as sweet. Briar Rose is trying to escape her abusive husband and makes a deal with a demon to do so. She soon finds herself whisked away into an entirely different world to be sold at auction to the monsters that only the bravest of knights in storybooks would dare face. And here she is, to be sold off to wed one of them?
A marriage of convenience turns romantic. Sol, our Dragon Lord, needs an heir. And Briar Rose is busy still navigating her new circumstances, new home, new husband. It was a lovely joy to watch them come together (figuratively, but also literally).
This book is spicy, funny, and an easy read when you're feeling a little silly or need something low-stakes. I'd also say this is a great introduction to monster romances!
Solid read it was quick and fast-paced. The author has several in the series, so there is a little world building that's a little bumpy but sets up an interesting series, I bet.
I always imagine with dragons it would be a twist on the damsel in the castle, this was comfortably more beauty & the beast! It was done pretty well, and the dragon character was sweet, actually. Refreshing takes on patience and understanding after our main character gets out of a physically abusive relationship and rebuilding herself. I really like the take of signing the demon contract but they are actually really good and set it up well enough - the triggering thing for me is when the dragon took off her birth control amulet in the heat of the moment and those demons swooped right in to save the day (imo - they eneded up being the conflict so booo. I thought this was great that they were looking out for her this way) and yeah, this was his fault. She tries to play it off as hers, but that's bs.
Anyway, if you have tokophobia, there is stuff in here that is awful to make your way through. I didn't know what this book was about, but I've learned my lesson to read up on stuff in this particular book genre.
I went into this expecting just porn with some flimsy worldbuilding but was pleasantly surprised. The demon realm with its territories and various demonic species is well thought out and interesting. I liked learning about the dragons' customs and how the bargainer demons gained leverage over the other territories when the portals between realms disappeared.
The characterization could use some work—Briar is very quick to feel safe around and have sex with Sol, especially for a woman who just escaped an abusive and controlling marriage—but I didn't expect too much depth from an erotica anyway.
Uuuhhhhhh, everyone seemed loco for this book. It I just didn't get it. He has two dicks but only penetrates one whole at a time? in fact at one point I think he used his tail to penetrate her asshole while he's screwing her even though he has two dicks, what a waste. I also struggled not really understanding what he looked like. sometimes I wish authors would have photos. Like what did his tail look like? I'm still a bit confused. The characters did have some growth which was nice but it was instalove which I'm not really into. One month in they were all consuming in love with each other one week in and she's already asking him for sex. I gave it two stars because I thought she did an ok job at describing the foreign realm a bit and her characters did have growth and I did not end up DNFing this book so two stars.
Spicy, cute lil short book! If you don't wanna commit to a big book with a bunch of lore then this is the read for you!
Definitely read it!
4.25 Stars!
I wish I could enjoy Katee Roberts writing style more as I love a good smut romp but I always end up feeling bored.
4.5 stars! This is my first monster romance (minus vampire), and it definitely won't be my last. While I thought Briar and Sol fell in love too quickly, who am I to judge? As always, Katee Robert left me wanting more... in a good way!
é tão aleatório que é bom.
shame on me
Do nada... PAH!
I wish this was longer. I also wish Katee was as good at writing the storyline of her books as she is at writing the smut. Nothing pulls me out of a story faster than constant incorrect words, grammar, and spelling mistakes. I wanted this book to be about 200 pages longer. I wanted to see them fall in love. Instalove in fantasy is such a waste. All the world building, zero love building. I liked it, obviously, but I'm always left wanting with this author...
Yeah I read this monster boyfriend smut book because it was recommended and yeah I went in very skeptical but you know what? It was pretty sweet. And a bit freaky.
Picked this up because someone posed the cover on FFXIV twt and I got curious. Light and maybe a little TOO fast-paced, but overall a fun read.
It's not the book really, it's me?? I don't know what I was expecting going in but it definitely makes me question my decision to read it.
A good time to be had
I really enjoyed the concept of this book/series going into it. I'm not a huge YA reader but dragons kinda pull me in everywhere.
I really enjoy the characters through and through and the action is decently spicy.
I wish the book was a bit longer as I'm wanting to know more about the characters.
If you have the free time I suggest giving it a read. Only took me a couple hours to enjoy.
Am very excited for the next installment.
