The Cleaners

Okay, so I loved The unLucky Succubus and still recommend it to everyone. I was looking forward to this series to learn more about this group and see how the world is after everything that happened in the previous series.
My problem is I needed so much more background information. Yes, I remember who some of these characters are and the basics of the world/setting, but The Cleaners are pretty mysterious in the OG series and this is what... 5 years after the end of The unLucky Succubus??? So, would have really liked more than a throwaway sentence here and there telling me barely what has happened and what is going on and who these people are. I literally cannot imagine someone coming into this series without reading the first and actually enjoying it because there is no anchor or solid information to ground yourself with.

Besides that, I was trying to persevere because how much I enjoyed the previous series. Alas, for some reason this series just is not interesting me at all. Perhaps because I have little to no interest in the characters? No idea what is going on? And for some reason the present tense style is bothering me.

It DOES have potential. I'm not swearing off this author forever. But it has taken me almost a week to get through 5 chapters and I'm still fighting the urge to skim.
Will I try again in the future? If I get around to re-reading The unLucky Succubus (again) perhaps I'll try. I just will need to immediately jump into this series without waiting, so I don't forget anything.
