I've been wanting to read this book for a long time cause I've heard pretty much everyone talk about. And it was good. It was don't get me wrong. I just don't think it was AS good as everyone made it out to be. I thought it was overhyped. I read it really quickly, the writing style was really easy to get through, it read very smoothly. The characters were pretty lovable. I actually really liked this book, and I'm excited for the movie now! Like I said, I just feel like it was overhyped that's why it's only a 4 star book.
So cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! yet a little bit predictable, but still heart warming.
I would rate as a 3.5.
3.5/5 rating Narrator 5/5 (His voice for Blue makes me smile)
This book was brought to my attention via the Love, Simon movie trailer (which is based on this book) I liked the actors cast in the movie and the synopsis so I checked it out and listened to it on my drive home for Christmas holiday. Overall I really enjoyed this book even though I only gave it 3-stars but there were a few YA/LGBTQ troupes that I found draining like the drama club and preparing for the play over the course of the book, unrequited love friendship triangles and probably most importantly, Simon is a little annoying. It seems to be a trend as of late to have unlikeable main characters in YA books whether it be intentional or not but I'm not going to dwell on it I still liked the book. One other thing that worked against this book for me is that the author brings attention to issues like race and classism but somewhat causally without really tackling it ie: Their school set in a fictional affluent, predominantly white neighborhood in the outskirts of the city of Atlanta, GA. When we're being introduced to the Abby character (Simon's new bff, who is a black girl) the author mentions that many of the black kids who attend this school live on the south side of Atlanta (usually home to families of low or lower income) have a really long school bus commute but its just kinda gets shrugged off. I don't hold that against this novel too bad though because I guess that ‘s not the focus here and I do appreciate a bit of social awareness but it just seems like an afterthought. Anyways, I love the relationship that is unfolding between Simon and Blue and Blue is just so likable from the beginning it's hard not to fall in with him. My favorite part of the book was of course when Blue is revealed and they actually get to spend time together. The romance is short but sweet and I am looking forward to the movie adaptation, though now having read (well listened) to the book, re-watching the trailer raises some eyebrows as to the liberties that are being taken, but time will tell...is it March 2018 yet?
Really cute and funny, and the audiobook narrator was awesome. I loved getting to live in Simon's head for a while, spending time with his friends and being excited for him about the excitement of emailing someone you have a crush on. These characters and that feeling was so well-portrayed. I hear this one is going to be made into a movie next year, and I'm excited to see it!
if i had to describe this book in three words . they would be :Cute.Sweet.Good.I liked the whole idea of meeting someone and falling in love with him online , without knowing who he is . you just know how he thinks , you know his inner self and it's just fascinating.I liked Simon's character , i was afraid it's gonna be full of Drama queen moments but i found it really cool , and cute af !To be honest i've expected so much more of this book because of all the hype , i wasn't disappointed but i thought i'd love it more . more than Aristotle and Danti ...maybe but i didn't , so it's official , Simon vs the homo sapiens agenda won't be on my top 3 books that i read this year. Aristotle and Danti will ! :D
Now , i can't wait to see the movie on March 2018 !!
Calling this book cute wouldn't make it justice. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is cute, yes, but it's also very fun and relatable, and sweet in a puppy lovey way. It's a quick read, also—it took me just one night to read the whole thing! I fell deeply in love with most of the characters, and the ending—though predictable and somewhat clichéd—payed off.
Knowing Blue was Bram did kind of take away part of the fun, though. But anyway: great read.
Fun, easy and feel good book. It left me with a smile, so I am thankful I grabbed it to read.
Okay....FINE...I'll admit it, I kinda like contemporaries!! It's taken long enough to find some I like. Seriously this book is just the most heart warming and funny and cute book you're ever going to read. Simon is just amazing and I want to be his friend. If you're wondering whether to read it, just do it. This will brighten up any shitty day. 😊
I'm not generally a YA reader but I decided to give this a go in no small part because of [a:Michael Crouch 838493 Michael Crouch https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/m_50x66-82093808bca726cb3249a493fbd3bd0f.png] and unsurprisingly he delivers a swoon worthy narration. Of course this would not be possible without a pretty excellent book by [a:Becky Albertalli 7579036 Becky Albertalli https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1392414949p2/7579036.jpg]. This is perhaps a commonplace story of coming of age in a modern America with all its complexities and trivialities. What I enjoyed the most was that in spite of or because of the attention to all of the modern details and specificity in Simon's story his voice as a character resonates with anyone who had a “normal” teenage life: the first crush, the defining of one's sexuality, the familial relationships, the heaven and hell of school etc. I loved all of it. The book is populated by non-cookie cutter characters and that was a breath of fresh air, the characters who in other stories might just be antagonists or villains i.e. Martin or Taylor are well rounded and evolving young human beings with faults but also heart. I liked that unlike in every other YA book or teen movie the parents are not clueless uninvolved buffoons.Extra icing on the cake for me was that this was essentially an epistolary novel and I have a weak spot for those and I was pretty much surprised by the identity of Simon's correspondent. Sweet.
Un roman Young Adult et gay finalement très classique, mais vraiment plaisant à lire ! Je dois dire que j'attends avec curiosité l'adaptation cinématographique annoncée.
It was okay, I guess. Partly cute, partly ultracheesy, partly weird.
The way bullying was handled but not as I would liked. I would have liked less drama for the sake of resolving the friendship and bullying issues more. Because not everything is resolved with saying sorry.
I 'guessed' Blue in that way that I didn't tought about the options Simon saw. I knew it was someone of the sports group but the name of the president twist was done quite well.
It was ok but not an extraordinary read for me.
4 stars I didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I did. I can't wait to read more from this author!
Bingung sbnrnya mau ngasih brp bintang. Aku suka ceritanya, masa SMA, email2an dgn seseorg dgn nama samaran, jd terkesan misterius, lalu lama2 timbul rasa suka krn via email kita berbagi cerita. Jaman sy dl ya pakai surat ya, lama pula sampainya. Bertanya2 kapan email berikutnya dtg, membayangkan spt apa orgnya, hidup dlm cerita si pengirim email. Dapet banget deh semua feel, setting masa SMA, kyk kembali jd muda lagi.
Sayang beribu sayang, ini content LGBT. Kalo di negara asalnya buku ini untuk YA, namun untuk Indonesia jelas hanya untuk dewasa. Sorry to say Simon, despite that you're cute & whatever, but you're sick...
Cute coming out story. I liked the diverse representation in the cast of characters especially considering the irl diversity of the setting where the story took place, a town right outside of Atlanta, Georgia.
Just like everyone else has mentioned, after a certain point, you can figure out who Blue is but it doesn't detract from the story because there's more to Simon's tale than Blue which is something I wish the reviews would mention because it was one of the things I liked the most. The story really focuses on Simon's coming out journey and how coming out should be something every student in high school experiences. To paraphrase, there should not a default–an assumption that coming out should be for every sexuality but heterosexual. This book highlights that fact, that the journey of accepting your own sexuality is a big deal, for everyone.
So many people recommended this to me and it was so hyped up, and it just fell a little bit short for me.
It was cute, don't get me wrong, and I liked who Blue turned out to be (one of my two guesses, and honestly thank god it wasn't actually Martin) but it just felt a little bit lacking.
This book was so stinking adorable. Simon is an amazing quirky awkward character that I loved reading about. I loved how the majority of the book I was able to continue guessing who Blue was and when Simon would finally figure it out. I had some inklings throughout the book, but I can honestly say I figured it out when Simon did!

Wanted to reread something light and cute and totally undemanding because I feel awful. This was a good choice, but now I'm wondering how so much of the story will translate to screen for the movie. Because, what with all the e-mails back and forth, and Simon falling in love over e-mails, I don't know how that will work.
Original Review
Sometimes a book gets into your head. You have no interest in reading it any time soon - if at all - then, boom, you want to read it and no other book will do. Welcome to how I wound up reading this book when it wasn't even on my TBR and I needed to read it right now so badly that I bought the ebook. Which I seldom do.
This, really, isn't my type of book. I hardly ever want to read YA contemporary romance but when I do, nothing else will work. So, I bought this book. And, ya know? It was exactly what I was looking for because it was exactly what it claims to be.
Funny. Cute. Makes a surprisingly good point about sexuality.
Not the kind of book I'd want to read all the time, but a nice breath of fresh air.
it was just so cute and fluffy and Soft. and i honestly thought about giving it 4 stars because maybe it wasn't mind-blowingly good but it just made me so happy?? like heart-beating-out-of-my-chest, having-a-hard-time-not-smiling happy.
10/10 would recommend, esp. for lovers of ari & dante and carry on
rohadtul untam a meglehetősen érdektelen levelezős részeket, de amúgy frankó volt.
üdítő változatosságként nem csacska lánykákként viselkedtek a meleg szereplők. lehet, inkább négy csillagot érdemelne csak emiatt.
