There are two good moments in this novella, the diner conversation and a tense car encounter in the middle of nowhere, and unsurprisingly both feature the tangible threat of the FBI in Agents Walker and Purdy. Unfortunately, Mark's jock personality also translates to an amateurish, high school teenager voice that is frustrating and simple to follow, especially with all the context readers have about the Lorien Legacies series at this point. Whilst Lore develops Paradise a bit more, including Mark's relationships with family, friends and the police, it doesn't amount to much in the grand scheme of things. Fortunately, the ending signals a more exciting follow-up as Mark gets off the Aliens Anonymous blog and takes some real-life action.
Just when everything was starting to get more interesting, it fucking ends. Ugh.
Mark had changed a lot since I last known him, has stirred of the douche bag days and working on being a gentleman for a change. Thank goodness.
And All this time I have always been convinced Sarah is a pain in the ass ( I still think she is) and a baggage (always was, eyes rolling always will). But this somehow cleared her name for me, a bit. Since you know, she didn't rat John. I still hate her, I don't know why John is still rooting for her. :@ and even if Mark's father saw the message from his phone, still it was from her. It was her that made things shit again for John. C'mon!! :@
And so yes at least if ever Mark gets reunited with John and the others, I mean, he can be useful you know, unlike Ms Hart. Grrr.
These novellas and side stories from other characters are really amazing you know. Each can stand alone like a completely separate novel. Keep them coming! :)
