A very touching story; it made me cry a few times. I don't know what I expected this book to be like, since it was very hyped, I thought it's not worth it. But boy was I wrong.
Nowadays super hyped books are literal trash but this one touched me in a way a book rarely does. It might even go to my fave books shelf. Totally worth the hype and I will read more books from Colleen for sure. Easy to read and no useless and boring details. It's a 5/5 from me.
“Maybe the best way to cope with the loss of the people we love is to find them in as many places and things as we possibly can. And in the off chance that the people we lose are still somehow able to hear us, maybe we should never stop talking to them.”
This one's sad.
Ledger is a great hero and Kenna is the saddest heroine. Incredibly stoic and fatalistic.
You'll need tissues by the end.
first of all, what kind of name is kenna or ledger? does colleen try to be quirky or something with all the weird names like ryle and holder?
even though some scenes did make me tear up but i think it was fucked up how they compared her sex experience with her dead ex boyfriend with his best friend and even laughed. it wasnt cutesy to me at all. and then come to think of it how long did scotty and kenna date? and she never met his best friend the entire time, didnt even come across him but somehow now all she does is run into him. i get it that he was some a player but like still. they should have met at least once considering scotty was going to propose to her and he didnt even make an effort to introduce his best friend to his potential wife??
This was so good. The story was amazing and Ledger was..... perfect. Not my typical read due to it being heavily child based but it was still so so good.
Another CoHo book that did not disappoint! Such a beautiful and heartbreaking story, full of emotions. I loved it so much!
Start to finish
I have never read anything from this author. This is the first and won't be the last. I could not put the book down. All the characters were developed in my opinion. The storyline was engaging also. This was a good book.
Well that was tough, possibly the most emotional book I've ever read but I loved it.
As a mother to a nearly 3 year old, the emotions were raw with this one. Everything Kenna was going through, I could only imagine my pain if I couldn't see my son. Everything Grace and Patrick were feeling broke me thinking about the pain I would feel losing my son. Its just heartbreaking, but the way they handled meeting and moving past it was so touching.
To have this much impact in just over 300 pages is a major skill and just want to read everything Colleen Hoover has ever written. Also more of Ledger please and thank you.
I only started reading this book because of how popular it was on kindle unlimited. When I started reading I already knew this wasn't necessarily the kind of book I traditionally read. That being said the book was enjoyable, I liked the ups and downs and drama. But honestly I thought the writing was sub par, and I constantly found myself cringing at the dialogue. I have personal connection with the thematic storyline, and I still didn't connect to the story. I don't know, I didn't really believe in the “love” that blossomed so quickly that they didn't really explain. It just all felt very superficial.
Somehow, this one kinda did not exceed my expectation of CoHo. But it was still a good read. A little bit emotional here and there, with smattering of drama and funny characters.
There were moments where I had to go back and read again because of the impact it made. I like those parts. Those parts where Kenna only concerns are getting to see her daughter. Then it got mixed up with her feelings for Ledger. And suddenly it becomes just another romance novel. Not that I don't like it, but it's just... I don't know, kinda like meh.
I think her other works convey better emotions, plots etc. This is just average.
Reminders of Him is a great story and so very touching. Kenna is newly out of prison after serving 5 years for the death of her boyfriend Scotty. While in prison Kenna gives birth to their daughter Diem who is now in the care of Scotty's parents Patrick and Grace. Once Kenna returns to Scotty's hometown in hopes of obtaining forgiveness for her actions she finds out that Patrick and Grace still hold a lot of anger towards her and it may not be easy to see her daughter. Kenna meets Ledger, Scotty's best friend, and together they forge a bond stronger than Kenna could imagine. Ledger guides her to finally find the answers she needs and to hopefully be a moving part in Diem's life.
I gave this book 4 stars only because I felt that the middle of the book dragged. I think that we could have done without all the back and forth between Kenna and Ledger. Overall this book hits right in the feels and I recommend to any Colleen Hoover fan.
This is another page turner by CoHo.
The book follows the story of Kenna who spent 5 years in jail and now returns to the city to try to be in her daughters life.
It's kind of a sad story but it ends in a good note.
I think this book deserves an additional praise (versus other CoHo books I've read) because Ledger is not abusive and is a good guy.
Entertainment value: 4 stars
Literary value: 3 stars
whenever i pick up a colleen hoover book, i always expect it to be a 5 star read. while i think this was enjoyable, i didn't find it as great as her other books i've read. for me, this book was missing that fast-paced suspenseful plot & passion between the love interests. with 4 stars i think this was still a great read, but it just didn't meet my high expectations for a coho book. BUT there were some great themes such as the exploration of a mother's love, grief, and forgiveness. also i cried a fair bit reading this book. i still definitely recommend it!
From my perspective as a mother, I guess this is a biased review. Colleen Hoover is sometimes a hit or miss for me. This time, it's almost a hit. Sometimes it's skeptical of me to like the insta love, it's not always real and I might have been seeing or reading a developmental kind of thing that the insta love thing to me has lost its charm. But the mother-child plot is amazing. I tried not to cry during the parts when the letters are coming up, it wasn't hitting me that hard anyway, but by the end of the book when the love for the kid shows, all hell broke loose and my tears just went running down. Sometimes, I think, this kind of love is amazing. The love for my children and their love for each other. I am glad Colleen turned some of this love into words because I do not have any for it.
In the middle of wiping my tears, Diem said her turtle's name is Ledger because she loves him. This is a random memory but my daughter wanted to name a dog she has been wanting to have her brother's name. When I asked why she said because I love him. Oh my goodness, this love. Sometimes it's weird.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dude, seriously? Colleen Hoover!!! CoHo my giiiirl. If you're ever in need of a heartwarming but heart-wrenching, yet fulfilling and satisfactory read, turn to Colleen Hoover. Wowzas. This book made me feel ALL of the emotions. I felt anger, heartbreak, satisfaction and love. All within these 320 pages.
This story follows Kenna who has recently been released from prison after a 5-year stint for her connection to Scotty, her former boyfriend's, death. Kenna is mysterious to Ledger, a well-known man candy and bar owner in town. Kenna has one mission - to find and reconnect with - her daughter. Little does she know that this Ledger may be her only hope of reuniting. We go on a roller coaster of legalities, love and frustration as Kenna persists at trying to meet her four-year-old daughter for the first time.
Now like I said earlier, I felt a whirlwind of emotions. Colleen Hoover has a way of doing that in her writings. I felt so connected to both Ledger and Kenna, and I felt so deeply for both of them and the heartache & grief they're feeling as a result of Scotty's death. It is a testament that everyone grieves differently. I loved that this book included Kenna's letters to Scotty. It's such a great way of gaining a deeper perspective on what Kenna has experienced, especially considering her character has a negative reputation. I also just loveddd Ledger I mean COME ON!! New book boyfriend, for sure. He tried so hard to navigate through his feelings and confusion surrounding his feelings & the situation he got himself into. It was heartwarming to see his empathy and care for others; his selflessness. Then, the story ends on a high note. I always adore how CoHo connects the titles of her books to the very last line of the story. It's like such a fulfilling way to bring everything full circle. This is definitely one of the more memorable Colleen Hoover books for me! I'm so glad I got my hands on a copy. I give this baby 5⭐️. And P.S. for those of you who aren't familiar, this is Colleen Hoover's latest book! Pub date January 18, 2022.
