See allI honestly do not know where to start. Or how. This novel left me feeling spent, as if I've not slept for 36 hours.
Have I not read It Ends with Us, I would assume Colleen Hoover is a freaking fantastic thriller/dark romance author. But either way, yes, yes, yes, she's freaking fantastic.
The story itself is dark, disturbing and very engaging. It's hard to stop reading. You just want to go on and on and on until the very last page. And then you will go “WTF!?” And then you feel like you can't stop thinking about the novel. It will take some time for you to digest the story, to digest the characters, to even fathom the truth. That is, if it is the truth after all.
If you feel like going down that dark, twisted road, pick this one up.
100++ pages per book?
I'm in.
A vengeful female serial killer.
Oh yeah, I'm definitely in.
A vengeful female serial killer smittened with an FBI profiler chasing down serial killers?
Baby, say no more. I'm all the way in.
I... I really don't know what to make of this book. It's the dark kind of dark romance. I mean, it's a love story between 2 serial killers, ffs! I want to say that's it's kinda sweet, but, they both really are serial killers.
But but but... despite all the dark stuff, it's a well-written book. And you find yourself cheering for both the main characters. Like, yeah, what a kill! Man, I feel so out of sort right now.
Okay, this one is, I must say, better than the first one, Vision in White. This got some meat in it to bite into. And a whole lotta romance.
Emma is a hopeless romantic while Jack is the usual playboy. It amazes me how in romance novels, they make the playboys appear to be ... well, exactly the ones you want to take to your mother. Such hope and illusion these novels present to us, no?
A bit fairy tale-ish at times, a bit too cloying at parts and a bit too corny, Bed of Roses is the ideal read for daydreaming. I like the book anyway. Shoot me.
This book was a torture to finish, I swear. The main characters just did not invoke any emotions to me, I could not relate to them. I think the female main is selfish and spoilt and so blah. The male main is so... flat. The entire story just fell flat, it's like drinking a lukewarm, fizzless soda.
And just what is it with Sparks and tragic ending? It is so expected, you know. You pick up a Sparks' novel and you just know that the ending will be tragic. Someone will die at the end. So predictable. So boring. So meh. He should definitely shake things up a bit, maybe let the ending be a happy one for once. Or don't kill off anyone, maybe?
Blergh. Next!
