Cute. Not my favorite but still very cute. I really can't wait to get to Beau's story.

Also, anytime Sterling was mentioned “I Forgot You Existed” by Taylor Swift played in my head.

I LOVEEE CHILDHOOD FRIENDS TO LOVERS. It's my top trope after Academic Rivals to Lovers. All I have to say is that I love Sloane and Jasper AND THE WAY HE WAS SECRETLY IN LOVE WITH HER- I JUST CANT-

There were a few more slow moments in this one than the previous 2. It may have been because I had to put it down for several weeks and then try to pick it up halfway through. However the second scenes were on point and I feel like that portion of the book was more lumped together than spread out, like the previous books in the series. Overall, I still really loved jasper and sloane's story. The fact that they have so much back history made the story feel deeper and more weighted to me.

In the start, the chemistry seemed almost nonexistent and too dull. The character dynamic seemed off as well, but it improved. Lately, i have been unable to stick through the end of romance books because i know the outcome already and it's obviously predictable. So i have to power through but it was actually fun to read this. I think Jasper is the hottest out of all the chestnut spring boys, but i have a feeling i might like theo more.

Ok I'm rating it a bit high. Probably 3.5 or 3.75? This book has a very soft plot. Ok, this book doesn't really much much of a plot. It's a fluffy romcom and I'm ok with that. Childhood friends to lovers is usually touch and go but this was written well. Elsie Silver has quickly jumped to the top of my must read authors. 

This was so, so close to 5 star for me. I think it was the way that she kept pulling away in the middle-ish. I mean, I get it, but just live a little. I love Jasper. Props to him, he really had a hard life. I'm super proud of him (yes, I know he's a fictional character). Love this series so much!

Synopsis

My Thoughts

• My favourite of the Chestnut Springs series so far!
• I adore friends-to-lovers with a long history of mutual pining, and this book has so many of my preferred tropes and executes them well.
• Great smut scenes, Jasper has a soft-Dom vibe going on.
• Really enjoyed all the slice-of-life scenes with the Eaton family.
• I want more Beau, I missed him in this one, and I hope he gets his own book soon.
• Harvey was once again both hilarious and insightful, he's a wonderful dad figure.
• Winter and Theo's first meeting seemed promising!

Jasper's past trauma and anxiety holds him back from taking what he wants. It takes Sloan almost marrying a total trash of a person to wake himself up. They runaway bride out of the church, and kind of hide from their lives.
During that time, they become closer and fall into a place with sexual tension and uncertainty.

Friends to lovers, hockey player, small town romance. Commanding, dominant spice.

She danced a lot for him as a teen which was weird??? IYKYK.
Overall my least favourite in the chestnut spring series.

Holy smokes, Elsie! How is it that each book gets better and better?! I don't know how I will ever pick a favorite, but so many moments from Powerless will be living rent-free in my head for a while! This book is the third installment in the Chestnut Springs Series, and it follows Jasper, the Eaton's “adopted” brother with a tough exterior, and Sloane, their cousin, a ballerina with a tender heart. Jasper and Sloane have always been friends and kept in touch, but after discovering some things about the man she is due to marry, she decides she needs an escape. Both of them have been carrying a torch for each other for a long time but haven't acted on their feelings for different reasons. Once they finally express these feelings, things really take off! And y'all, I mean they really take off! This book was so hot, and Jasper and Sloane could not be more perfect for each other. Powerless is a childhood friends to lovers story with spicy romance and a few heavier themes. The banter between the characters, including the side characters, is always one of my favorite things that Elsie writes. I know I won't be able to stop thinking about Powerless for a while so definitely preorder this book releasing February 10! This is an adult romance, 18+ for sexual content and themes.
