A heartwarming opposites-attract romance with great setting, awesome characters, and thoughtful handling of deeper topics. Recommended to romance lovers who like their books to cover more than just the romance.
I love a small town setting! And in this book the town was like another character. I loved that the love interest had such major ties to the town with his family legacy. One of my favorite things about a small town setting is all the side characters and the support of a community. There was also some semi-magical realism with the town interfering with the main relationship.
I really appreciated that the book covered abuse in its different forms; emotional, physical, parental. The book also handled the abuse cycle very well, emphasized the fact that abuse can happen to anyone, and even had some ideas on how to help others around you who might be facing a similar issue.
I loved how even though they were “from two different worlds”, they actually had a lot of similarities. They were both feeling familial pressures of legacy while actually wanting to do something different. They both felt trapped, and needed a push to find a new balance in their lives and prioritize themselves instead of trying to make others happy. Speaking of which, I loved how that pressure was handled as well. The internal struggles Alexis had between not wanting to disappoint her family and following her heart were very authentically handled.
I really loved their romance, and in a lot of ways it reminded me of my own: opposites attract, long distance, one of them a romantic and another logical. I loved how they couldn't stay apart, how much Daniel loved Alexis, and how he slowly helped her put down her walls.
This book also has: A baby goat, a town pigs and an overexcited dog. Need I say more?!
Overall rating: 4.5⭐
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this as an eARC!
I read “Just for the summer” before reading this book, and it made me even more FURIOUS at THAT character, I swear I was almost SCREAMING at my kindle
“Eight thousand nerves in the clitoris and still not as sensitive as a white man not getting his way” nope, and nope. Tired of race being brought into everything. Not reading this author again.
Many things about this book infuriated me but I also kept on speeding through it so 🤷
I read books in chunks. I read a third then move on to the next and rotate. It helps me get through books I might not love as much, I think. I knew I loved this book when I got to the time I should stop and switch and I just kept reading until the end. Loved.
A swoonable sweet rom-com - Alexis & Daniel are opposites attract on steroids. And Alexis’ best friend, Bri made me laugh out loud!
Abby Jimenez surpassed my expectations. I loved how well-thought-out this romance was, and all the complications Alexis and Daniel have are somewhat realistic. I also found the subtle magic in this novel to really work for me!
This book was written specifically to delight me. Absolute perfection in a romance.
4.25/5 - This was a cute book. I giggled at the banter. The parents and Neil were TERRIBLE. It took Alexis 40 years to figure that out. Daniel was cute. He was the perfect “golden retriever” boyfriend. LOL
I was hesitant to pick up books by this author as the hype was SO high, however I eventually caved and I'm so glad I did.
I absolutely loved this from start to finish!
I'm a sucker for a small town romance, and this had all the things I love about them - friends, found family, cute animals, and a history to the place. And Daniel?! Is he just the most perfect man? 💕
I also really loved the inclusion of the heavier, more serious topics of domestic abuse, escaping abuse cycles, familial expectation and finding your own purpose in life.
Definitely one of my favourites of the year and I'd already bought the next 2 books before I'd finished this one! 😊
4.5/4.75!! such an incredibly beautiful, vulnerable, and heart warming story. i loved this so so much.

“grace costs you nothing.”
how! can! a! book! be! this! perfect!
Overall, focuses on the themes of class difference and important topics like domestic violence in a wholesome, heart-warming story crafted with love, care and imperceptible detail.
afterthought?
AT ALL.
everything seemed intentional.
beautifully thought out.

spoke to these professionals in order to get the details right,
The best part of this book were the little details. The barn animals with the best names, Hunter the dog, The magical realism of the town, etc.
fan-fucking-tastic
I am Abby Jimenez stan. Daniel is my official favorite book boyfriend. Alexis's growth made this story so incredible.
My heart is so happy after reading this. A simple story of a small town boy and city. But a complex story of abuse, familial expectations, hard decisions, and so much love. Please read it.
I could not put this book down. Everyone speaks so highly of Abby Jimenez and now I know why. Alexis and Daniel have so many reasons to not be together but through this story there are just so many reasons of why that doesn't matter. I loved every page of this book. I fell in love with these characters. And the best part is that her bff is named Briana. All the best ones are named Briana. Soooooo obvious a 5 star read.

Finally my first Abby Jimenez book! It really surprised me because at first I wasn't really into it and thought I would hate it. Mostly because of the insta-lust and also the small-town thing. I've never read a fwb type book and I didn't know that that's what this was going to be so it caught me off guard when they had a “one night stand” within like 3 chapters. But when they started falling for each other the book got good. Also I went in expecting a cute fluffy romance so I was surprised when the book started talking about the abusive cycle and family pressures and stuff like that. I wasn't surprised in a bad way though. It was informative without sounding like a schoolbook or like they're monologuing. Daniel deserves the world and Alexis better treat that man well. He did seem a little unrealistic sometimes when he would never ever get upset with her but is that not what fictional men are for? I loved the way all the main characters were written. I loved all the characters that I was supposed to love and hated all the characters I was supposed to hate. I can't tell if maybe I actually like small-town romances or if I just love this book. I know now that I shouldn't go into Abby Jimenez books when I want a cute lighthearted romance but when I want a romance that deals with real-life problems and is a little heavier, I will absolutely be reaching for an Abby Jimenez book.
honestlyyyyyy i really loved this. i feel like this book had the perfect balance of being lighthearted but also having commentary and something deeper than the traditional rom-com formula. this one really surprised me but i literally have not stopped thinking about it since i've read it.
I loved this book so much I rushed out to get the sequel before I was halfway through. I loved the small town of Wakan and how the people of the town felt like a family. Alexis and Daniel were so sweet, Daniel is one of my favorite love interests ever. Everything about this was so charming and cozy, but yet so deep. It tackled real-world issues and really had me feeling for all the characters, even the minor ones.
Part of Your World gave such a fast paced narrative that kept me engaged the entire time, but ultimately it fell short for me. It seemed like Alexis knew more about Daniel & his life than he did about her & her life and I didn't enjoy that.
I really enjoyed the humor injected into the story through the characters, I did find myself grinning and laughing a lot. The first 30% of the book made this seem like a 4 star read but throughout the story everything just kinda got lost.
Not to be a hater, but if you ask me Daniel deserves better! In my opinion Alexis failed to evoke empathy or interest in her struggles for me personally which left me indifferent to her problems. Daniel definitely emerged as a more compelling character for me! Though I will say more towards the end Alexis was a bit relatable.
I think this is such a cute romance and I enjoyed a lot of different components of this story but it's also made me realize opposites attract in terms of wealth and socioeconomic status just isn't my cup of tea! I really like Abby Jimenez's writing and if I read a book by her with tropes I actually like I could potentially find a 5 star read within her books!
