I can't begin to express how much I loved this book. I felt every emotion possible. This will be the romance to beat for my future 2024 reads.
Tw for domestic violence (physical and emotional)
bought this book on a whim and i gotta say i am so pleasantly surprised!!! it was so sweet & emotional but also shows the realities of falling in love with someone outside of your social norms. loved it so much abby jimenez rly knows how to write a story that has me blushing and crying. can't wait to pick up another one of her books <3333
Stop the presses! I found a romance that I love and it's NOT a slow burn???

You all are fired. Not a single one of you told me how freaking cute this book was. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF YOU. It reminded me so much of an actual rom-com movie. There was sadness and more than one serious topic broached here, but Part of Your World could easily be adapted for the screen like...tomorrow. This was SUCH a fun book to read. I fell in love with the characters almost instantly. Daniel and Alexis were such perfect foils of one another. I'm pretty sure that Daniel is the perfect man â what other explanation is there for his ability to cook, woodwork, do hospitality, and care for baby animals?
Alexis had such a miserable life before Daniel wandered into it, and there was a real moment there where I was so worried something awful was going to happen to her. Instead, Alexis grabs her own bootstraps and FIXES her life. Fantastic.
There is ZERO steam in this book. There are a few fade-to-black scenes, and mentions of dick picks but we see zero sex on page. Normally, this would bother me, but Part of Your World was cute enough that it didn't matter. I cannot recommend this book enough, if you're looking for a cute romcom to break up the monotony of your life. FIVE STARS. I LOVED THIS.
Really cute gut-wrenching story about two people from different worlds who should not end up together, but beating all odds stacked against them. I'm not usually into a big age gap in books but it was not a problem at all in this story and just added another layer for the main characters to overcome in order to be together.
This book was amazing. I really enjoyed it. Alexis is a big city Doctor with a family history in medicine. She is coming back from a funeral and puts her car off the road trying to avoid a raccoon. Daniel comes along and offers to tow her car and she lets him.
They meet again in a local bar and Daniel tells her that his friends have a bet on who can pick her up. They make a plan to walk out together so that he wins the bet and they can split the money.
Alexis's ex has been gaslighting her and her father isn't much better. This is somewhat in the past and they don't focus on it a great deal, but it is part of what makes her the way she is.
There is a ton of chemistry between Alexis and Daniel and their romance is incredibly sweet and heartwarming as it builds. Alexis's best friend Briana is a hoot and has some of the best lines in the book. Apparently there is a second book called Yours Truly (I think) and it has Briana as the main character. I'm looking forward to reading that one as well.
I swear to God Abby Jimenez could write me a hate note and I would love it. She is honest to God one of my most favorite writers and Part of Your World is my favorite book of hers to date. Alexis and Daniel's story truly took me on a roller coaster of emotions and at one point I swear Jimenez reached through the pages of my Kindle and ripped my heart out of my chest. Anyways I'm obsessed. Five stars.
I am in love with this book. If I could, I would move to Wakan and live there forever. I just feel like I know everybody there. These people are my friends and will always be.Â
This book made me laugh out loud; made me cry like a baby; made me feel warm inside.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series... And I don't have to, because it's waiting for me in my Kindle.
A simple premise, but a strong execution. I really liked the leads who felt like real people, though maybe they don't feel as iconic or distinct as other romcom couples as a result. The ex-boyfriend redemption arc was great, especially because I was worried he would become cartoonishly evil. I mean, that role is reserved for the female lead's dad, but I'll let that one slide. And is it just me or did this one have Little Mermaid vibes? Was that intentional? Am I going crazy?
This was so sweet! Alexis is a legacy doctor, and Daniel is the mayor of a small town. They couldn't be more different.
Fate brought them together. True love kept them together.
This was such a sweet rom-com book. It was full of happiness, and emotion. The small town was so full of life and family, and amazing farm animals.
This book follows the story of Alexis Montgomery, which descends from a world-renowned family of surgeons and who's expected to carry the family legacy. She is seen by her father as a constant disappointment due to her choice to become an ER doctor instead of a neurosurgeon. While returning from a funeral, destiny put a racoon in front of her car, leading to her rescue by Daniel Grant, a Mayor and carpenter of a small and enchanting village. What I liked about the book:- Inclusion of serious issues: domestic violence, both verbal and physical abuse- Abby was able to tickle all the necessary boxes for a successful romance: likeable characters with good dialogues, a sweet romance with strong chemistry and a lot of angst, interesting supporting characters, and environment. - Ultimate cinnamon roll boyfriend. Daniel goes directly to the best book boyfriends list, being a strong competitor for Wes of [b:Twice Shy 54660653 Twice Shy Sarah Hogle https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1595608490l/54660653.SX50.jpg 85281678]. To be honest, I think Daniel deserved much better than Alexis. This would be my choice for the 2022 best romance Goodreads choice award.
I went into this book somewhat blind, I only read the back blurb and heard good things... WOW. This book Was amazing. Also.. SO FUNNY? I ran out of the tabs I was using for funny moments like half way through and had to grab new ones. I was not expecting to laugh out loud as much as I did. Also.. the description of Daniel made me instantly think of Jensen Ackles so.. That helped me like it even more than I would have LOL but seriously both characters (especially Alexis) had so much character growth throughout it. I wish I could visit Wakan and that the characters were real because damn in, they felt real. I cannot wait to read the next one, I absolutely loved Bri's character so I can't wait to read more about her and learn more of her backstory.
After landing her car in the ditch, Alexis Montgomery is ârescuedâ by Daniel Grant and introduced to the small rural town of Wakan. Alexis, 37, is a hot-shot emergency room physician from a dynasty of physicians who have traditionally been closely linked to the hospital at which Alexis herself works. Daniel, 28, on the other hand is from a founding family of Wakan and his family has always lived there and has risen to very local prominence. He runs a B&B in his ancestral home and lives in and above the mansion's garage with his dog and the carpentry pieces he works on as a hobby.Of course, after meeting each other, both Alexis and Daniel fall in love with each other and what follows is a nice ride through a plethora of large and small problems before the inevitable happy end. So far, so good...Sadly, there are a few issues: From the very beginning, Alexis finds issue after issue with actually having a real committed relationship with Daniel - the distance (he's a two-hour ride from where she lives), the age gap (nine years... Pfft!), the end of her previous relationship three months earlier and, worst of all, the economic difference between them which she turns into a âcaste systemâ...»Only this time I'd been born too soon and into a different level of a caste system that he couldn't scale. It made me a little sad.«A caste system? That Daniel couldn't scale? That's the mindset of someone I'd really strongly dislike. This is reinforced by two of Alexis' girlfriends who are even worse than that.I do get [a:Abby Jimenez 18446724 Abby Jimenez https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1651706989p2/18446724.jpg] does this to be able to show a changed and rehabilitated Alexis in the great finale but I found myself strongly annoyed and put off by Alexis constantly making excuses why her relationship with Daniel is doomed anyway. My second major gripe is Alexis behaving like she's in her early twenties at best instead of being 37: »I'd get invited to holidays and celebrations with parents who wouldn't have him, so he couldn't come.«So because her retired parents from whom she's economically completely independent disapprove of having a relationship with someone âbelowâ their âsocial sphereâ Alexis actually wants to break things off with Daniel?Right now, I'm 46. I've been married for pretty much exactly half my life to the woman I love. Of whom my parents didn't approve for a decade or so. Who happened to live in another country. I married her regardless, we have three adult children now.I was infuriated by what my parents thought but, ultimately, I didn't care. I was prepared to cut them out of my life if I had to. Maybe you feel like Alexis does...»Or if my dad thinks I'm a complete waste of his DNA? I'm already the weakest link in Montgomery history. I have to give a fuck. I have no choice.â«You do not have to give a fuck. You do have a choice. You can decide to lead a happy life with whomever you love - regardless of age, gender, social âstandingâ, etc.. Yes, you can.»They made me feel like crap, actually.«If someone makes you feel like that, cut them out. Regardless of who they are. Even if they are your parents. It's not worth it and toxic people rarely change enough...These issues somewhat impaired my enjoyment of â[b:Part of Your World 58684524 Part of Your World Abby Jimenez https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1634649284l/58684524.SX50.jpg 90170665]â but all in all it was still a good, entertaining romance.Rounded-up four out of five stars.Blog Facebook Twitter Instagram Pinterest Medium Matrix TumblrCeterum censeo Putin esse delendam
My biggest beef with this book was it was SO FREAKING REPETITIVE!! okay we get it their relationship can't work!! The ending was very predictable but at least I didn't find the typical cringey romance stuff (he was bigger and strong/she was tiny, his penis was huge/she was tight â cringe).
Cute premise, but I really didn't connect with the main character. She is a doctor and grew up taken care of her whole life. Never did laundry, cleaned, etc.
Also a bit too spicy and vulgar for my liking.
2.5 stars maybe 3
It was like a predictable rom com movie
It was ok, an easy read I just expected more
This book was as fluffy as Nadia's cupcakes. Great for fans of fade to black romances. Both of the main characters were refreshingly not annoying in any way. The banter and inside jokes were adorable. I feel like the âdoomed from the startâ trope is tricky to get right. I loved Hunter, Doug, and Pops. The magic of the town reminded me of the show Good Witch. Fluffy magical vibes. I really want to try the date idea of picking random things for entertainment and food. When Nadia's cakes were mentioned I thought it was coincidental that there was another one in Minnesota, but then I googled it and Abby Jimenez is the same person who opened the Palmdale one I went to when I lived there a decade ago. Small world. I have a few more of her books on my shelf, so I'm looking forward to reading more.
I don't usually read the big city career/small town guy trope, it feels too Hallmark Christmas to me, but I really enjoyed this book. It felt very realistic to me. Giving up or changing her career was a non-starter. The way they navigate the relationship while she stays true to her career goals was handled well. I liked both main characters and was rooting for them.
The book does deal with issues of emotional and physical abuse, both with the main character, Alexis, and one of the side characters. I liked how they handled it with Alexis, but with the side character, who was in a worse situation, it seemed a little too easily handled.
I'm very glad I came back and revisited this one after Just For the Summer - you get glimpses of some of the minor characters from that book in here that I had forgotten about, as well as both Daniel's historic house and the house Alexis finally left to Neil. I still wish they'd had a conversation about WHY Alexis felt Daniel wasn't going to be a good fit in her circles, instead of leaving him hanging at every step. Briana continued to be the best in this book. I think she might be my favorite of all in this series.
Starts with a one-night stand, and the 3rd act breakup is so slow and drawn out that I didn't even cry, but I won't hold that against this book. I still loved it.

Original Review 2022:
I loved this book (with the Just Have A Conversation! caveat). You know they'll end up together, because Romance Novel, but the how of it just seemed so complicated that I didn't know the turns it would take.
