"Months after her mother passes away, artist Tillie Morrisey sees a painting in a gallery that leaves her inexplicably lightheaded and unsteady. When a handsome stranger comes to her aid, their connection is so immediate it seems fated, though Liam is only visiting for a few days. Working on her own art has always been a refuge, but after discovering a document among her mother's belongings that suggests Tillie's life has been a lie, she begins to suffer from a series of fugue states, with memories surfacing that she isn't even sure are her own. As her confusion and grief mount, and prompted by a lead on the painting that started it all, Tillie heads to a seaside village in England. There, she hopes to discover the source of her uncanny inspirations, sort out her feelings about Liam, and unravel truths that her mother kept hidden for decades." -- Inside jacket flap.

This book was a whirlwind of OMG insanity!!
After Tillies mother dies, things start to happen to her but things get really strange after seeing a painting in a gallery that makes her lose consciousness. Thankfully a handsome stranger helps her. Liam is a sight to behold and they seem to have a connection but as Tillie's blackouts escalate, she can't deny that her subconscious is trying to tell her something.
Such a good story. I cannot believe the storytelling that went into this book. All the elements came together really well and I felt really engaged with the story. I like the writing style, narration was amazing and I will definitely be looking for more from the author.
Loved the magical realism undertones and the beautiful romance that will captivate you too.

3.5 stars. Another strong woman-centered novel from reliable and prolific author Barbara O'Neal. This one features a touch of New Age woo-woo, repressed childhood memories, insta-love, the power of art, a pile of recently unearthed bones and the awesomeness of cats. As with her 2018 book, [b:The Art of Inheriting Secrets 38097931 The Art of Inheriting Secrets Barbara O'Neal https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1528728728l/38097931.SY75.jpg 59764662], O'Neal devotes a lot of real estate to the love story, to the detriment of the rest of the crowded plot. And I can't say I was a big fan of the MMC, who travels around the world teaching people how to meditate (he makes bank but feels guilty about it). But I've been following O'Neal for more than 30 years (and three pseudonyms), so I'll continue to greet her future releases with pleasure.
