Extremely short book filled with such timely modern insights one can hardly believe it was written in 1999.
This is a short one. It's really not a book, but an 8,000 word essay. My main takeaways are to know whether you're a reader or a listener and, relatedly, know how you learn. Another good nugget of advice is to ask these things of your colleagues, too.
I do have a soft spot for capitalist self-help books like this, or Dale Carnegie, or tales from Warren Buffett's many adventures. I legitimately enjoy reading the Harvard Business Review.
But! This short treatise was just bleh. It's a lot about playing to your strengths, not trying to fit your round self into the square hole, and how longevity means people need to switch careers (be active!) and knowledge working means people need to keep learning or be left behind to wither in the relentless Machine Age (never stop!). The usual late capitalist stuff, real basic b stuff.
Honestly, I listened to it on the way into work today and I'm already forgetting its wisdoms (it's lunch!), so that speaks for itself.
Short, valuable read
This book talks about a few practices which you should try in analyzing yourself; how well you follow through, are your expectations out of whack? Etc. It also talks about personality types and the importance of figuring out what you're wired and doing things the way that makes you shine. Another key aspect is figuring out how you learn and digest information in the way you're naturally wired to receive it. There are some dated parts like having a second career at 40 etc (which I didn't agree with) but considering the short read that this is, it's still pretty valuable.

One of those little books that can teach a lot about yourself. This book made me face several questions about myself, how I was working, thinking, learning, ... and enlightened me on several things I didn't understand in my life (like why meetings have always been a torment, or why I don't get the podcast thingy, ...). Packed with a lot of wisdom and teachings, it's a great read.
Tiny book with a disproportionate price, but well worth the (very quick) read. I'd recommend picking up Harvard Business Review's 10 Must Reads on Managing Yourself which includes this article and a few others. I haven't read those, but the price is so close, you might as well.
