Nithou

Un énième livre sur le développement des habitudes, mais qui malheureusement pêche justement en étant l'énième. Je m'attendais à un vrai découpage plus orienté outil, peut être à de l'aide à la mise en place de la méthode Kaizen ou autre, mais finalement ce livre n'apporte pas grand chose de vraiment neuf dans le développement des habitudes etc. On revient sur les même tropes : se rendre “accountable”, bien doser la difficulté, respecter les répétitions etc. De plus le livre parait extrêmement long pour le sujet qu'il traite pour au final peu d'intérêt. Dommage, il avait pourtant un bon potentiel.

I think the author should have took their own advice and make some severe cuts in this book. It felt like a lot of common advices (I don't know but reading "just do it" advices don't work that much on me so that's that...) wrapped into a lot of American new-age talking (have you tried meditation? meditation is great! You should try meditation!). While a lot of the advices are really interesting, I had a really hard time getting through this one and it felt it could have been at least half shorter and be more interesting (and less preachy).

Magnifique histoire, bouleversante en un sens, une amitié au delà des mots, des cultures, une poésie magique à chaque mots. J'ai dévoré ce livre qui m'a fait sourire, attendri, pleuré, rigolé, le tout en quelques pages. Un moment magique vraiment.

Alors que je suis totalement séduit par la série, que j'adore, le livre me laisse avec un énorme goût de ... « Meh ». J'ai eu énormément de mal à accrocher à l'ensemble. A mes yeux contrairement à d'autres critiques, Quentin n'est pas plus insupportable que cela en narrateur, c'est au contraire l'ensemble du récit qui manque de cœur. On sent qu'il y a matière à quelque chose d'interessant (ce que dieu merci la série a magistralement réussi) mais qui n'arrive malheureusement pas à être exploité correctement. Je poursuivrai l'aventure, mais plus par amour pour la série que pour ce que ce premier tome m'aura fait découvrir.

One year and half ago, I suscribed to the Nerd Fitness Academy and followed the path proposed on the website. This led me to some dramatical changes in my life helping me to improve myself, my health and mind. One year later I bought this book but postponed its reading, as I was going through some personal stuffs. One month ago I've made what the Academy call a “respawn” and decided to take everything back to zero. This book helped me get things back on track but with a greater view, by seeing things ahead, on a higher level than what I had done in the past, helping me setting real goals I wanted to achieve and hard-based steps that I have to follow to reach them. At the moment I cannot tell if I'll reach them, but based on my experience in the last days and month, the goals in my mind are way clearer and stronger than ever before, thanks to this book :)
