I saw the author on a television program and was intrigued by the premises he espoused; he was a very dynamic and entertaining speaker. So I got this book and was surprised to find that there was nothing really earth-shattering in it but rather a clear, concise, and orderly collection of approaches to self-improvement, with exercises and tools to assist. I think I would have been better served having read this in my 20s, 30s or 40s instead of my late 60s but even so there were some decent tidbits for me at this "late" stage. At the very least, the author showed how enthusiasm and an optimistic approach can be great facilitators in enhancing our understanding and even in bringing joy back into learning.
Found a lot of the tidbits in this genuinely helpful but I did have to skim a lot, especially toward the beginning. The constant celebrity name-dropping and self-advertising became tiresome very quickly. I've seen a lot of reviews saying he has essentially stolen and/or consolidated a lot of previous work in the field, but can't speak to that myself. I'll definitely be going through and working on a lot of the exercises, but I also plan to pick up some books by Tony Buzan (who other reviewers have recommended). There really is a lot to take away here, just be prepared to slog through some parts and focus on what you feel like will be most beneficial to you.
Excellent book. Change your thinking, read better, become limitless. I still need to download the extra resources and go through the different Jim Kwik provides. I can't wait to see where these improvements will take me. I was initially about a 350 word per minute reader. Using the pacer method, I bumped up to 450. After a couple of weeks of trying these new tips, I can't wait to see where I am with my new skills.
One of the best self-improvement books I've read in a long time. Not only was Kwik's writing style friendly and approachable, but all of the methods he outlines are realistic and actually work. Just the first few chapters changed the way I viewed my daily routine for the better.
