Last First Kiss

Role reversals like this one are always quick to grab my attention and I'm sure the same can be said for other people. For once, the bodyguard is the woman and the man needs to be guarded. While the hero doesn't just sit back and want her to get hurt for him, making her job more difficult, it still doesn't take away from who Annie is, letting her still be strong, independent, and focused. 

With that said, let me talk about the characters. As a romance, there are not many characters introduced besides the main ones, Rocco and Annie, their friends and family and the person making a conflict in the romance. I always dislike when there are only two females introduced in the book and they end up hating each other because of a man. No, this book does not pass the Bechtel test. Rocco and Annie, though, have a healthy and wonderful relationship. This isn't to say they don't do stupid things regarding the other, with Rocco sometimes keeping Annie from doing her job, which can seem more annoying than romantically protective. So, Rocco can come off as too much of a macho man, but Annie can seem childish with all the flipping off she does. 

The story is pretty slim. The plot is not what drives this book, but the relationship of the couple. There is plot though, even if conflict may be dealt with swiftly. Then again, Annie is a trained soldier and can handle any situation. 
The writing is well done and really flows well, making the book seem shorter than it is. The banter between characters is fun and adds so much to the characters and the relationships.
