Would have worked better as a novella or even a short story. How many times can Charles and Hugo have amazing sex and/or swear their undying love in 250 pages? Answer: A LOT. Also, more than I needed to read. There is a plot in there somewhere, with both MCs working their magic on a grumpy old man who lives on a beautiful island, and a touch of danger, but that only serves to give Charles and Hugo additional opportunities to give each other more accolades and reflect on the perfection they have found together. YMMV if you are not a cynical bitch, or if life in 2022 has you searching for an angst-free lovefest.
