A book featuring introverted, overly stressed Sol was always going to be a tough follow up to the ebullient, charming [b:Charles 57569079 Charles (Learning to Love, #1) Con Riley https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1622674541l/57569079.SY75.jpg 90157995], and unfortunately this is not Con Riley at her best. While it's understandable that Sol is overwhelmed by multiple commitments to his teenaged nephew and institutionalized sister, he is unnecessarily cold to Jace, who is virtually perfect. The MCs haven't seen each other since they were 15, so their insta-luv upon reunion strains credulity. On the plus side, I learned a lot about street art, it was a pleasure to see Charles and Hugo happy together, and Mitch from [b:His Haven 56917503 His Haven (His #3) Con Riley https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1615031796l/56917503.SY75.jpg 88985908] pops up a few times to dispense his wisdom. This whole series has been leading up to the third book, [b:Luke 59340902 Luke (Learning to Love, #3) Con Riley https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1634114366l/59340902.SY75.jpg 93497568], with the dedicated headmaster trying to save his school from greedy land developers, so hopefully the finale will be strong.
