I listened to this on audiobook this time.

2015 - 3rd re-read and I still love this book. Lupin and Sirius are some of my favourite characters.
2019 - Yes! This really is the turning point of the series and still my favourite. Lupin xx
2019 (again) - this time reading with my son. Oh how I adore this book. Time travel - yasssss!
Executive Summary: This is the book where the series really hits its stride for me. It might be my second favorite book in the series.
Jim Dale Audio book:Mr. Dale continues to grow on me as the series goes on. I've always thought him a good reader, but I'm really coming to love the extra effort he does doing voices for the characters. It really helps to bring the story to life (not that Rowling's writing needs it).
Stephen Fry Audio book: Mr. Fry once again does a great job here too. His voice for Sirius is pretty good. I can't really think of any notable new characters from the last book. His Hagrid probably continues to be my favorite voice.

I won't spend much time on this, because well it's Harry Potter. With my last two rereads I really realized just how much I like this book. The movie doesn't really do it justice.
There are so many different things that go into this book to make it excellent. You have the introduction of Sirius Black and the Dementors. It also has my favorite Defense against dark arts teacher with Professor Lupin.
Then there is Hogsmeade. What I wouldn't give to go and visit the real deal. I really need to take a trip down to Universal Studios in Florida and visit the replica.
You also get a lot more Quidditch here than the last two, which is always a favorite element for me. And if all that isn't enough you get the Marauder's Map!
The twists and turns really took me by surprise the first read through, but even knowing how this book ends it's enjoyable start to finish.
I read this book as part of the series challenge I'm doing on my blog. (And for it, I have to drop a few quick lines about each of the books I read to prove I read it.) Honestly, I'm not surprised that this has been my favorite of the series so far. After all, The Prisoner of Azkaban was one of my two favorites of the movies that I've seen.
There were several parts that I loved in this book (like the Shrieking Shack) but I also didn't care for the friendship issues that popped up. It's really interesting to see what changes and what stays the same in the story when it gets turned into a movie.
My favorite Harry Potter book. The characters are well-rounded and believable at this stage of their development.
I absolutely love this book. I love Siruius Blacks love for Harry. He loved his godson so much, he escaped an unescapable prison to try and save him from what Wormtail would eventually do. I also really love Remus Lupin. Any teacher who would go out of their way to help a student stay safe deserves a teacher of the year award. He's definitely one of my Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers to date. I watched the movie again recently with my fiance and I kept including the little bits the director didn't include, like the fact that Harry's father was an Animagus and could turn into a stag, giving him the nickname Prongs. I would recommend this book for anyone. The way Rowling writes, you can just imagine it happening in your head. She is just a totally amazing writer and I look forward to reading the last four books.
Still amazing. I changed my rating to 5 stars. WTF was I thinking.Reread: June 2013Reread: November 2018 5 stars still! My favourite out f the seven! Lupin! Sirius! ‘Bitter he's not part of the squad' Snape! Yes, I know Snape is a highly problematic character, but I love him. Don't @ me.Reread: December 2022 5 stars
I really like the humor mixing with the steadily growing darkness. It reminds me of the way LotR progresses from silly antics in the shire to the sheer numbing terror in the black spider's cave. But to wrap that up with a time travelling gimmick too? Brilliant!
Me encanta poder releer estos clásicos de mi infancia.
Habían tantas cosas que no recordaba y hay tantas otras que cobran sentido según vas leyendo y avanzando en la saga.
On the second read and its a far better book than I remember it to have been. The mystery of Sirius Black and Lupin is really well maintained. And the ending is simply awesome. And it sets the stage perfectly for probably the best book of the seven:-)
Took my sweet time reading this one because it's my favourite and I still love it ^.^. Review to come.
This book felt like it went on forever. One of the disadvantages of an e-book I suppose. You can see percentage left, but that doesn't really give you a true picture of what is left. It wasn't that I didn't like the book (I did) but it felt like I was with Harry and his friends for far too much of the year. :) Anyways, good story. A bit slow at first, but the end was definitely worth it. Loved how much of Harry's parents and their lives were tied in with people watching out for him.
I think that Prisoner of Azkaban is one of my top HP books...it takes a slightly different direction in the plotline...I don't know, I just really enjoy this one more than the other six :)
I think that, when thinking about the Potter novels, it's necessary to think about the first three as a trilogy in their own right, and somewhat separate from the rest of them. Several key, defining elements of the Potter mythology (such as Dementors, Patroni, and Sirius Black) are brought in in this volume, and there's a strong sense of danger and intensity throughout it that the first two books really lacked. One of the strongest in the series, for sure.
I just wanted to put ONE HP book on my all-time favorite list. I picked this one?? IDK. So good. Deathly Hallows might be my new favorite, though. Time will tell.
