This book was definitely heavier than AGGGTM, but it still managed to pull off an insane twist!
Poor Stanley!! he just wanted to live a happy life and leave his past behind and every time he opens up it's like a slap in the face... and while I can't hate Charlie for hating Jack (as much as i want to), I can hate him for unnecessarily trying to burn Pip ALIVE ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! He already had her phone, there were no cops, and she was a little bit preoccupied with Stanley's SIX BULLET WOUNDS. That and the horrible manipulation of poor Jamie :(I will say I think Jamie x Nat are gonna be such a cute couple and really good for each other!!
Wow me ha encantado incluso más que el primero. He estado super enganchada de principio a fin. Me meto de lleno en el tercer y último libro.
As strong as the first one. I love the portrayal of emotions and new addition of pictures.
What an absolute thrill ride. I could not stop reading. And how some of these plot points were set up in the first book??? Wow, just wow. No idea what book 3 will be about, but I need my hands on it ASAP.
I wanted to rate this book 5 stars because it was just SO GOOD but I have a feeling when I read a 5 star book and I just didn't get that feeling with this one. (That's how I felt with AGGGTM as well but honestly I probably would've given it 5 stars if I read it faster. It took me a while because I was in a slump BUT THATS BESIDES THE POINT.) OBVIOUSLY I LIKE THIS SERIES ENOUGH TO CONTINUE ON WITH IT AFTER AGGGTM, it's so funny because I said I'd never read the other 2 books after that one & here I am☠️ Literally just started GGBB on a whim because my library had a copy and I'm glad I did. And I'm not a reads a series kinda guy. I'm surprised with myself to say the least. These books are just very well written I don't think I could've helped myself. I enjoyed this book and the first one no doubt about it but for very different reasons — My actual rating is 4.75
This keeps getting better. I genuinely loved and enjoyed this one a lot more than the previous one. I love ravi and pip together and their dynamic, their small jokes. I am sad that we didn't see the aftermath of pip releasing max's recording. This was just so great!
This one gave me chills multiple times!
This was easily 6 stars lol, oh my god.
I love plot twists and there was like 50 of them in this book. I truly thought it was Jamie's father that did it, and I had my suspicions on Flora but GOD DAMN. Also poor Stanley..
I couldn't decide if I want to write us a three-star or four-star. The beginning was boring and the second half took so many strange twists and I haven't decided how I feel about it. It was entertaining and I literally read it in one day but at the same time I can't stand the main character. I also have some issues with the fact that this is usually sold as a YA book. It's probably because I'm a mom now, but keep in mind that YA targets 12 to 18 year olds. I would not want my tween/teen being marketed a book where the son of a child murderer gets shot in front of a high school student. It just takes such a dark turn from the previous book that it almost feels like a completely different story. That being said, I did enjoy it, and while, listening to the audiobook, I can say it's really well done and entertaining to listen to, it's almost like listening to a true crime podcast. There's just certain aspects about it that feels a little bit immature even though it touches on very sensitive topics (ex. A known rapist getting let go, death of loved ones, sexual abuse, minors drinking, drug use, child abuse, child murder, regular ol' murder, bullying, catfishing, marital abuse, burning a building with people inside, etc etc etc).
I was so excited to get into this book, because I loved the first one!
BUT I have to admit that it did not quite live up to it's hype and GGGTM and here's why:
- the plot was good because there were some parts I didn't see coming (like the motive) but a lot of the things where too predictable
- the ending felt a bit rushed and compared to book 1 not as elaborate and thoughtful
- the characters itself are likeable, even more than in the first book, but some where also pretty one dimensional
I know, I drew a lot of comparisons between book 1 and 2 but it is hard not to when you know, what Holly Jackson can do.
In the end, it was a good book that got me out of a reading slump and I would still recommend reading it, especially if you liked the first instalment :)
love this one so much i loved how it was almost if not just as good as the first
I really liked this book. A medium pace, with Nacy Drew vibe type of story. I liked how it was formatted with interview style sections. I never saw the ending coming.
3,5/5
I didn't like this one as much as the first one. It began quite good, but later on it wasn't what I was hoping for. I thought that the “child Brunswick” came out of the blue. It didn't really connect, in my opinion...
I was hoping for something better. I do not say that it was a bad book, but I was expecting something more thrilling. I hope Pippa can recover from her trauma in the third and final book
This series gets better with each book installment. I have loved this series since the first book and I can't wait to read the third book.
I actually liked this one better than the first - I think the story itself was a little more pleasant to follow (not that the theme was pleasant) but the strength of this particular book was the author's depiction of rage and hopelessness. I really liked Pip's development as well as the development of a few particular characters, and I hope Ant and Lauren don't come back for the final book.
4.5*s
It's not often that I find the second book in a trilogy better than the first one. Starting from where we left off in Book 1, this one tackles more on the after-effects (and yes, there's more mystery), dealing with deeper themes and the protagonist herself showing her greyer, more human side. It's a gripping unputdownable read - one that may keep you up at night, yet it's not as intense or unpredictable as it's a YA Mystery after all.
This is one good series! Might I compare it to Truly Devious or The Hawthorne Inheritance? It's got the same feel of mystery, clever clues being followed cleverer teenage detectives. The same breathless anticipation on my part to find out what happens next that keeps me reading one book after another...
Ok... I'm still processing... everything. Well here are my thoughts:
First WOW so much plot twists in this like just WOW
Second, well I'm not trying to be spoilery BUT like the mystery solving things was intense... LIKE MY HEART WAS ON A COMA. Made me cry for sure.
As always Love love Pip... and Ravi
This is the sequel to A Good Girls Guide to Murder and it did NOT disappoint. Book #1 was better. However, I loved that this story was a continuation of the story in the first book, but also had a new mystery to follow. I loved being
re-introduced to the characters. I also loved the level of suspense when it boiled down to solving this mystery. A classic case of “who done it?”
