Opnieuw een heel smakelijk mysterie. Het audioboek was ook weer subliem voorgelezen.
Deze aflevering was enigszins voorspelbaar, maar het was nog steeds buitengewoon vermakelijk en leuk

I loved this book even more the second time around because I was able to pay more attention to the details and these books are just so faced paced I can never put them down.

Read for Bookoplathon 2021 - 48 hour round
Ms. Jackson is literally a queen and I stan her so hard. This book was amazing and I loved the mixed media elements so much. I relate to Pip so much and her and Ravi's relationship is literally the cutest.
3.5 ⭐ Beginning was soooo slow. The actual stuff happened at the last 1 hour mark. The audiobook was amazing! The sound effects for recordings and text messages were a nice touch.
honestly, it was really slow at first and then about half way through it got reeeeally good. i liked this one maybe a tad bit more than the first!!!
FIVE FREAKING STARS
I can't believe I read this in one sitting. It only shows how AMAZING this book is, along with the first one.
I love Ravi and Pip's relationship. I love everything about Ravi, he's like my latest fictional character crush.
I love how the ENTIRE BOOK sounds like I'm reading off a movie script. My imagination can't handle it.
I felt like I was reading a horror story, my heart kept pounding outside my chest.
THE BEST
Literally the more Pip the better! Another great mystery with twists and turns and very real emotions!!!! Absolute recommend!!!
loved the first 80% so much but the mystery reveal just wasnt for me sadly. did make me cry tho
january 1st 2024 reread:
loved this more than the first time, what a great way to start a new year. didn't cry this time but I'm still sad
well, at least this was better than the first one. i didn't even plan on picking this book up because i wasn't a fan of the first one but then I thought what the hell. and...i didn't hate it.
the writing is nothing special at all and the neither are the characters so the only thing that saved this for me was the actual mystery which is funny because that's exactly what was lacking in the first book.
i think holly jackson should ease up on the foreshadowing though because that makes it really easy to figure out who is sus right away but at least i didn't figure everything out this time around.
i did like that this book was very binge-able. i finished the whole thing in the span of like 12 hours. and i guess i am going to read the next book so yayyyy

I so enjoyed this suspenseful and unpredictable ride! Holly
Jackson makes me want to go back to adolescence so I can strive to be more like Pip. She takes no ones shit and stands up for others in a way that I admire. Not only is she brilliant and exceedingly observant, she also exudes bravery and self-assuredness without much apology. Loved reading this, and loved that the ending was not “storybook rainbows and unicorns,” but instead was more true to the reality of the world. Can't wait for the another GGGTM and to hear more from Holly Jackson!
Yes! And another home-run by Holly Jackson! Even though this book in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series wasn't my favorite it was still phenomenal and I couldn't put it down for the life of me. I read this book late into the night for all three days that I was reading it because it was fantastic. I loved how Pip changes as a main character in this one and the only thing that was a bit of a letdown was that I guessed the bad guy really early into the book and that never happens to me so the ending wasn't as exciting as I'd wanted it to be. Otherwise, it was an amazing sequel in my favorite YA thriller/mystery series of all time! Not disappointed!
To begin with, Good Girl, Bad Blood, the second book in the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series, follows Pip, who solved a cold case in the previous novel and has sworn off her detective days for good. However, when her close friend's brother goes missing and the police don't do anything to find him, Pip is thrown back into playing detective, only this time a person's life is literally at stake. I loved the plot of this one and I thought it was a very creative way to go from the first book to the second one so I have no complains there. It was very suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. However, the ending wasn't as exciting and thrilling as it could have been because the bad guy was rather obvious to me a few chapters into the book and I was hoping that I was wrong so I could be blown away by something I did not see coming. I didn't guess all the nuances of the ending though, so there was still plenty I was surprised by. Can't wait to see what she does with the series next!
Secondly, the characterization is superb in this one specifically. Pip goes on such a transitional and life-changing journey in this book and the events of it that I really grew very attached to her and she feels especially real to me. I love that she has molded from everything that has happened to her because that's what happens in real life to us. She is also witty and as daring as can be and one of my all-time favorite heroines of all time. I should add that the side characters in this book are also very quirky and memorable and they all complement each other brilliantly. I just love their friend group, wish I could have had a friend group like this back when I was in high school.
Finally, the writing was even better than in the first one. Even though it was a YA genre, it definitely did not read like a YA and that made for a very entertaining read that I absolutely raced through. It was simple and straightforward and yet felt somewhat sophisticated and fluid at the same time. The pages just kept turning in my hands and it was a joy reading this novel. Bravo!
In conclusion, I am a lover of adult thriller novels and yet I absolutely loved this YA mystery series so far! Take that however you will but it is definitely by far my favorite YA series of all time, at least so far. I haven't read many yet but the ones I have read did not hit the spot like this one has. I would recommend to anyone who wants to get lost in a mystery where each chapter is full of twists and turns and the action is also not lacking at all. Also, the quirky and lovable heroine doesn't hurt either.
3.5 stars rounded down to 3. I thought some of the clues/details of the twist were good but I did guess early on that Charlie was ‘the bad guy' in some way just because he was presented as being almost too wholesome. I hadn't guessed who Layla was or what had happened to Jamie, though, so points for that. The ending felt off, though, like it was just dropped. Even for a book that's part of a series, that sense of the book just suddenly stopping when you don't expect it to isn't ideal. Still, I'd read a third Pippa novel for sure. Overall I enjoyed it.
I'm sad to say I didn't like it as much as the first one. It's become a less cozy mystery and more depressing suspense territory. I'm less excited for the next installment but I'm still going to read it.
I will listen to these audiobooks for as long as Bailey Carr & cast narrate them. There's something so soothing yet compelling about Carr's voice and the interview formast for the rest of the cast really works. As for writing, Jackson really elevated her world and character building this time. I wonder if she either wrote out this series all together or mapped out all of the characters/plots for each book before completely writing, because some minor characters from book 1 now feature prominently and have important callbacks to the central mystery. Jackson also really grows Pip up in this book and she'll have to work through some real trauma, which feels right to the series. A well baked layer cake, I look forward to reading the 3rd book!
