Very much inspired by Asimov, this book is a great exploration of robots, consciousness and ethics without being tedious in the least.
This is one of those novels in which the synopsis posted above is really all you can go on.
Genesis had me actively guessing up until the very last pages. Do yourself a favor and pick it up. The format of writing never gets stale, the story itself is rich, and the ending will surprise you. At 150 pages, its an afternoon well spent.
I'm gonna try to say as little about this as possible. Genesis is bit like a Twilight Zone episode, both for its brevity and cleverness. As such, I think it's best enjoyed going in pure.
I will say that it is very cerebral, and consists of mostly dialogue discussing the nature of freedom and personhood. There is also robots and artificial intelligence, which I didn't realize going in and was super psyched about. And the cherry on top is a delicious twist ending that I kept thinking about afterward. It was like being punched in the face with awesome.
Freaking read this.
Really liked this one. A review would be too spoilery. Suffice to say, it's barely a YA novel. More of an Asimov novella? Great quick read.
This is not my usual read. Post apocolypic stuff. But it was intersting. I don't think I will buy it or read it again. As with most lit like this, I always wish I would end differently but I know the author was being true to the circumstance not everything has a happy ending.
