Garlic and the Vampire is such a cute middle-grade graphic novel that touches on a number of topics kids may deal with. Garlic has anxiety, low confidence, and deals with bullying on a daily bases. When learning there is a vampire living nearby, she overcomes her anxiety and fear while investigating his home and learns not to judge others.
The artwork is beautiful and the characters are just so adorable. I highly recommend this wonderful, wholesome graphic novel.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Children's Books for this eARC.
This was cute. Anthropomorphized veggies that are very scared when a vampire moves into their neighborhood, and the little Garlic bulb that gets voluntold to go scare him away, but Garlic and Count end up bonding over their love of gardening.
grapes, this book is delightful cover to cover!!
who would have guessed in the year 2023 i would come close to tears over an animated garlic bulb with anxiety and her carrot friend who believes in her.
with 160 pages, i don't just recommend this book... i BEG you to read this book. i'm requesting the second one from libby as soon as i'm done here.
10/10 perfection
Garlic is a little sentient garlic-headed person who works with other vegetable and fruit people to work a witch's farm. She's an anxious little thing but she's nominated to investigate the old castle nearby when a vampire moves in. It's all very cute and I love the art.
This is so cute! Garlic has to do a hard thing to help others even though others aren't always nice to her. But she has some great friends by her side too. And then things turn out different than people expect. Ah! It was wonderful.
Oh this was delightful. This is a cozy comic about a bunch of talking vegetables and an anxious Garlic's mission to infiltrate a Vampire's castle. The art is adorable, whimsical, and one of the coziest books I have ever read.
Garlic is super adorable!! Celery is an condescending jerk. Carrot is the best friend you want. And the Witch is the kind mother! This is one of those books that makes you smile and feel all warm. Would recommend!
Adorable. I really like the artwork and the story, while absurdist, is well-done.
A town full of enchanted vegetables in charge of growing more of their own variety of veggie. There's a witch and a vegetarian vampire too. This was really sweet and I loved the artwork. The colors are soothing and very earthy. I loved the topics and how they were handled. The enchanted vegetable folks are not just enchanted to work but are beings with feelings and thoughts and they are valuable feelings and thoughts. It's also stressed upon how enchanting and breathing life magic into other vegetables is a huge responsibility.
Really nice art and a gentle story. I was surprised by the story of this little anxiety garlic and a nice vampire, but it was a nice smooth read with wonderful art!
Oh my goodness I am Garlic the anxious veggie and I love her. This is really sweet!
