Made it through 200 pages before giving up. I just can't with these people.

I enjoyed the show so much that I thought I'd like the book, but the writing is more romance light than I expected from the topics. None of the best parts in the show hit the same in the book but I guess I'm grateful that this existed first, if only so the show exists.

“Even the parts that hurt to look at.” That sums up this book for me. I recognize that is is good and complicated with lots of thoughtful and thought-provoking bits. It's also a touch depressing and nihilistic (in a very NYC way?) and I am going to go for a hike, I think. Whew.

Oh, I could scream with that ending. AH!

Ok - #bookclub4m genre literary fiction second read.

I don't know what I think yet, that was an interesting read!

Strangely conservative criticism of a subset of American culture: the rich and how difficult it is to get richer and more successful while maintaining a work-life balance. And some sort of “identity”, while it is really all about their id.
