Well... I guess I'm sucked into these historical romances by Lisa Kleypas now. This is my second book and it was just as fluffy and lovely as the first one I read. These could certainly turn into an easy comfort book series as not a lot happens in them. Nothing horrific anyways. You know they are going to have a happy ending.
Lets be honest, I am not a fan of LK. I think she is over rated, I think compared to Tessa Dare and Joanna Lindsey her stories are lacking depth and emotion. All I get out of them are a lot of sex, and thats not really why I read. Sure, its nice when 2 characters have good chemistry, actually, I really like it when they have good chemistry. But sex is not chemistry. I hope we all know the difference.
That all being said, I do not remember anything about this book. Why did I rate it 2 stars? I have no idea. Good freaking question, but it was only a few days ago that I finished, so that is how mediocre i found this book.
Have fun reading it. Maybe I should have given it 1 star since I remember nothing.
4/5
I enjoyed this book. Sebastian was a horrible man at the beginning, but boy, I loved his redemption arc.
The humour and serious topics were balanced well. Spice was good, I enjoyed how gone for Evie Sebastian was. And the “You told me I could kiss you, you didn't tell me when”???? Amazing.

A petulant child calls his wife a bitch because she has refused to have sex with him after laying out a rule stating that she will only sleep with him once and he agreed to it. Then, despite her refusing, he still went down on her because he couldnt help himself around her and needed something from her and justified it by saying that she didnt specify where he can kiss but she never actually said kissing was allowed he put that rule there himself. The author made him admirable by making him a kind soul, who protected and cared for evie while that was nice of him, the words bitch echoed throughout the rest of the book. Not only that, but evie really drained her standards by settling wth someone like him, who did the bare minimum and thought he was great.
St vincent is not that man he thinks he is.
5/5 - Definitely the best book in the series, I went into this knowing it was super super hyped so was sceptical, however for the majority it didn't disappoint!
I didn't know a thing about this book before reading and was rather surprised to see that Sebastian St. Vincent was the love interest, considering how deeply unpleasant he was in the previous book. However, his redemption story is well worth a read!
Only thing is I wish it had not have take place so much inside the gambling club, I found the section in Gretna Green so much more enjoyable. But other than that was very good!
I read the Wallflowers series out of order, so it's hard to know for sure, but I think this might have been my favorite had I not read “Scandal in Spring” first. It's at least pretty close. Definitely 5/5 stars for the sex scenes! I also appreciated that both the protagonist and her love interest have considerable character growth/development, and a subplot involving an inherited gambling house created some sustained non-sexy interest. I'm sure there's some folks who can't forgive Sebastian St. Vincent his crimes from “It Happened One Autumn,” but I must have been in a redemptive mood. Overall, I'm glad I found this series! The plots have a predictable structure for each book, so that felt a little tired by the end, but I appreciate Kleypas' creation of genuine female friendships sustained across the series.
2,5⭐️ Minha review tardia
Outro ponto, a própria Evie.
I love this series! This is a close second to It Happened One Autumn for my favorite book in it so far.
Sometimes I could extremely surprise myself with books that I liked. And this one was one of them.
Historical romance just isn't my cup of tea. But this book... I loved main characters. They saw each other for who they really were, and not who they seemed (and try sometimes) to be. And they not just saw, but did not despise each other for that.
As for the book in general, it was easy and fast to read. And very entertaining.
