I have a love/hate with Carrie
This review is for the audiobook version. At first I wasn't sure as I started listening to this book but it grew on my and I enjoyed it and completed it in one sitting.
A fun start to the series! Carrie's work at the library and life in town are super cozy, and the mystery was good (I didn't guess it til the end!). A lovely cozy, especially for fall!
I really want to work in a haunted library! And live in a cottage by a river! sigh
This was engaging and while it kept me guessing, the killer wasn't too much of a surprise. Still, I'm excited to see what comes next!
Alas, I just couldn't get into this one. I didn't like Carrie AT ALL. She calls her coworkers “dimwitted” and “juvenile,” yet she is a 30-year-old woman who dressed like a goth and mooched off her aunt and uncle. The writing also felt clunky and a bit juvenile to me. The plot was all over the place. The characters felt very one dimensional as well. Ya, this just wasn't that great IMO. Onwards...
