OOH, this has some great art and a really promising premise! It's off to a great start and i feel really hooked onto the world and the mission for these characters!
4.3/5 stars
I was sold in this book as soon as I heard space gays and found family. It did not disappoint. I was happily surprised that this included overthrowing the patriarchy.
I especially loved when we focused on Bee and Cass. It really helped me further connect with the story as well as understand why they continue to participate in jousting even after they got hurt badly.
There are two reasons as to why this wasn't a five star review. Number one this sort of felt like a prequel to give the reasoning as to why they are trying to get rid of this tradition. The second reason was because I felt Pan was sort of bland character to follow. I was more invested in other characters rather than her. As I didn't really grow to care to want to know what was happening to her.
I would a hundred percent to recommend this to other people.
I am so invested in these girls! I cannot wait to read the next one. I really loved the subtle world-building. Templer knows her characters, knows their struggles, and communicates it all beautifully. The artwork is stunning, especially the two-page space scenes!
Oh hell yes. Gay space knights smashing the patriarchy for the win!!!! Great art, intriguing story, please consider me hooked.
I'll be super honest here: I have a really difficult time liking Western graphic novels – I tend to rate them low while loving comics out of Japan. This book has renewed my hope!
Seriously I loved this one and I'm super excited for more. Princesses are saving themselves and other princesses through a gladiator tournament– space-style. It has action, wonderful artwork, fantastic and well-developed characters, and a story that has me hooked.
If you like cute artwork, fun characters (most of which are queer!), and a great beginning to a story, then you need to check this one out. Can I just recommend it to everyone??? Please, go read this!
