Sophie Kinsella's novel, “Confessions of a Shopaholic” is a light-hearted and fun read about a woman who loves to shop, and the consequences that follow. The book follows the main character, Becky Bloomwood, as she tries to get her spending under control and curb her addiction to shopping. The book is full of humour and is a very easy read. It is the perfect book for a beach holiday or a lazy afternoon. It is also a great choice for those who are looking for a feel-good novel.
Now the book has some important messages about consumerism and materialism, and the ways in which they can negatively impact our lives. It also highlights the importance of friendships and family relationships. The theme is engaging and fun. The characters are relatable and likable. The plot is fast-paced and enjoyable, making it a light read for someone that just picks the book up reads it, and it's over.
not much to say but for a cheesy book that made me not want to read anymore it still grabbed my attention wanting to know what will she do next.
I need MORE i didn't want it to end so fast...!!! i loved the ending and i wish the middle of the book wasn't so....bleh but like everything else was so nice.
I was way behind the crowd on this one, and just recently picked it up at a Little Library out of curiosity. It's amusing and a little suspenseful (just wondering how things will work out!), and of course, maybe just a tiny bit too relatable, haha. The romantic subplot left me a little unsatisfied, though . . . I wasn't too sure about our main character's judgment.
Damn it, I did it again. It's almost 3 in the morning and I'm still awake and craving for the second book. Need it noooow!
I love the shopaholic series, the first time that I've read them would be about 5 years ago. I still love them. Becky is a fantastic but dumb character that you just have to love. And then there is Luke, I wish I had a Luke. Dang it, Christmas is over. Have to wait another year then....
Probably about 3.5 stars. I love Sophie Kinsella, but it was a little hard to like the main character. She was the worst impulse buyer ever and didn't seem to realize that money was a real thing.
The main character drives me nuts...she knows she's in debt yet she spends spends spends...instead of book world where she meets a rich handsome man who bails her out.....
She needs THERAPY
Brit chick lit in the style of Bridget Jones. Finished in two days, consider me v. amused.
