Another one that totally captured me. I'm really enjoying the story building, and the character development is chefs kiss
I hated Liz at the start but I instantly had a soft spot for Raahosh. His story was heartbreaking and his questioning of being unattractive was so sad! There was absolutely a part in the book that had me ugly crying.
Liz grew on me and I actually came to enjoy her smart ass remarks.
Definitely a must read if you enjoyed the first book in the series!!
I enjoyed reading more character depth and development here than in the first book of the series. Both main characters were problematic in their own ways, but I do feel like they evolved... sort of...
Another entertaining installment in the IPB universe
mmm DNF. I had a lot of fun with the first [b:Ice Planet Barbarians 25128811 Ice Planet Barbarians (Ice Planet Barbarians, #1) Ruby Dixon https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1551411246l/25128811.SX50.jpg 44825213] but I'm not a big fan of enemies to lovers and I just felt like...this wasn't hitting for me, and I didn't have to read it for the podcast, so, I stopped. Please clap for my personal growth!! I still might circle back and check out the one after this at some point tho
Liz's attitude is hilarious, and seeing how Raahosh and the other blue aliens try to understand human language and things is hilarious.
3.5 stars
It was refreshing to see one of the women actually resist this “new world order”. Especially towards the end - Go Liz!
Aunque me gustó mas el primero, este se sintio un poco mas correcto, el pacing, la descripcion de los sentimientos, todo me pareció mas adecuado
Raahosh & Liz are everything
This one made me actually cry. Like why am I loving this so much? I have to stop questioning it. On to the next one...
“Barbarian Alien” stands out in the erotic science fiction genre for its thoughtful exploration of consent within an interstellar romance narrative. Set on a distant alien world, the story revolves around the complex relationship between a human woman and a powerful alien warrior. What makes this book particularly noteworthy is its nuanced approach to consent. Despite the clear power imbalances and cultural differences, the author ensures that consent is a continuous, respected thread throughout the story. The protagonist's autonomy and decision-making are given importance, adding depth and realism to the narrative. This focus not only enriches the romantic and erotic elements of the plot but also offers a refreshing perspective in a genre where such themes are often underexplored. The book's sensitive handling of consent amidst its steamy and adventurous storyline makes it a standout read.
I don't know what sort of dr*g Ruby Dixon puts in her books but this is becoming a comfort read.
Take that as you will.
I hate Liz and I don't like Raahosh so this was kind of miserable for me. Didn't really understand Liz's defensiveness of Raahosh to the others despite her inner monologue still being pissed off at being controlled. It felt too much like denial of abuse as opposed to the first book, where it was fear and reluctance into love. These two just feel unhealthy overall, even by the standards of this kind of series. Excited to go back to Vektal and Georgie.
I am not usually a fan of unlikable protagonists, this was next level though. That's too toxic of a relationship for me.
I've been meaning to continue on with this series since I read the first book last year. When I started this series I wasn't expecting to enjoy it because I had never read an alien romance and I didn't think it was going to be for me but boy was I wrong. I ended up enjoying this one more than I did the first one. Liz is a bad ass female lead. She wants to have control over her life and she makes things very difficult for Raahosh despite the pull she has towards him. She's definitely very feisty and she knows how to get what she wants. Raahosh!! What to say about Raahosh? While the way he went about taking care of Liz and getting her to fall in love with him probably wasn't the greatest idea I totally understand why he did what he did. I thought this book was funny and sexy and sweet and ugh I just want more.

This had my heart racing. At first I HATED Liz. She was a bitch just to be a bitch but as the story progressed I realized we are much a like in many ways. I am eager to keep going with the series and can't wait to see what happens!
Re-read 2023 I still can't stand Liz. Calling the person I love a dick or any other derogatory name is not my love language. She's just not my kind of people in every way. I raised the rating because I actually liked everything else a bit more this time around.
I just could NOT with the her... I could NOT
Not a bad alien romance! I enjoyed the first one just slightly more but this one was still good.
I picked this one up because another series I read ([b:Demon Ember 35116059 Demon Ember (Resurrection Chronicles, #1) M.J. Haag https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1494526454s/35116059.jpg 56428073]) brought up this series. It is one so many have read and liked, and since I like one of her other series, I decided to give it another go. I'm still not blown away??? I mean, it is okay. I'll read one more.
