To be honest, I don't even get why Raphael falls in love with Elena because she hasn't done anything by that point except pique his interest just because she doesn't immediately fall on her knees and does everything he says. I mean, come on, dude – if you go around killing/torturing anyone who disagrees with you, no shit you'll be surrounded by ‘yes men' all the time (except for the oh-so-special Seven, of course) so you kind of put yourself into the situation of everyone around you now being boring. I guess I just don't see how she's so special (besides smelling vampires) that an immortal, who has experienced so many interesting people through the centuries, would somehow find her compelling. Not that Raphael himself is a prize, mind you. He's the typical alphahole that is too prevalent in Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance / Romances.
This was a quick read. The action in the book helped moved the plot along nicely, though it took me some time to warm up to our main character. I ended up getting very immersed in the world and at the end of this book immediately hungry for more on this world and these characters.
This book was /alright/. It wasn't anything special. The main character was supposed to be a badass but it didn't really seem like it. The action all happened at the end of the book and the build up was pretty boring.

Think I might have urban fantasy, strong female MC, somewhat annoying love interest/psycho burnout. I just feel like I'm reading interesting plots, but with very similar characters a lot of the time.
Badass female MC – ✔
Annoying Love Interest – ✔. Admittedly, why they're annoying varies. This one is a won't take no for an answer sort, but there's a weird reason for that I won't spoil.
The third male, who isn't a love interest at all, but wants in the MC's pants too – ✔
However, some were flipped on their head, and for that, I'm super happy. It's what redeemed it for me. I definitely can't go into detail without major spoilers, but let's just say, something I've wanted to happen in all these paranormal romance books, finally happened!
I enjoyed the world that has been built here too. Angels, archangels and vampires are all common knowledge. The unique thing, or at least new to me, is that only angels turn vampires.
The thing is, whilst I do want to read on, I also don't. The book had a happy ending, where I can make up some, they lived happily ever after bs. I really liked the ending, but it's not encouraging me to read on, so I also don't know how to feel about it.
Overall, I'm giving this a 4.5/5. I think my issues with it are because I've read about 10 books along the same lines recently. This might've been the best of the lot of them.
This one is a fast read. It's an unusual world of angels, vampires, and humans. That bit I liked. Kat Kennedy's review amusingly sums up the bigger issues I have with this one. The relationship between the two main characters is...erm...distractingly unhealthy. But there's some witty banter, and the characters intrigued me, and I'm hopeful book 1 is long setup for what happens in book 2 (like the weak pilot in a strong series).
Elena is a born hunter, which makes her different from other hunters. Raphael, an archangel, has tasked her with a dangerous job but won't divulge all the details. He could literally make her crawl, but she will not bend to his will.
Great book!!! I couldn't put it down.
I'd loved to buy it in English, but eventually I ended up to borrow it from the library, just to see if I like the whole idea of the novel, since my relationship with UF is difficult..

This is the book that made me realize that, while I still really enjoy urban fantasy, I'm really just sick of paranormal romance. Which is to say that I'm tired of the difference between a story, and a story that concentrates on cock.
Everything about this Guild Hunters world was really neat, and a enjoyable remix of angels and of vampires. All of which was derailed by (seemingly) everyone wandering around with their overwhelming sexual desires controlling them. I'm not even talking about the one guy who has the magic ability to smell intoxicating. THAT at least has an in-world explanation. It's the girl who is a rebel, a powerful tracker, rule breaker, who gets moist down there at the terrifyingly inhuman angel who could and probably will kill her for being useful. It's how that same angel somehow finds the pathetically weak tracker just as capable of derailing his ancient mind. Ridiculous.
Is it somehow supposed to be romantic to be uncontrollably driven towards someone you don't even like? I don't get it, but it seems to be a repeated meme in PR. Which is why I need to stop being an idiot and stop reading books in this genre,
