Kept me guessing almost to the end. Far too contrived to be a favourite. Is there anyone who can challenge Agatha Christie?
This book was exhilarating, I absolutely couldn't put it down. My emotional reaction to everything in this book was the most prominent of anything I have read in a very long time. I absolutely loved it
2.5 stars
i dont know how to feel. I was excited to see what was gonna happen at the start but it dwindled as did my enjoyment of the book. By the end i didn't really care for any of it.
It felt like a middle grade book most of the time which was weird because this book is about murder and other severe crimes. The main character talked like a 12 year old girl and acted like one too.
idk... do i rate it 2 stars? 3 stars?

I really enjoyed reading this YA Mystery Thriller. The pacing, the characters, and the log-entry writing style made for a great reading experience. I think I enjoyed it more so because I found it very familiar, with characters following a timeline or a time period akin to my own and the mystery style similar to the books I'd read growing up.
I wouldn't say there were mind-blowing plot twists or anything of the sort that I enjoy while reading thrillers... it's very YA, but I enjoyed it all the same.
I hate the title.
once i actually got into it, it was pretty good still not over how ravi takes his tea tho
Me he quedado rayadísima con los enlaces del libro. Me ha molado mucho la historia, voy a seguir con esta autora 100%

I couldn't give it higher because of the mild spoiler death of an animal which is a big trigger for me. (PSA Please don't forget to check trigger warnings ahead of time so you're not surprised like I was). However, it was handled the best it could have been handled in my opinion. I absolutely loved this book. The audiobook is the ONLY way to read this. It was FANTASTIC!
A fast, thrilling read. I was pretty engaged all the way through and quickly got attached to the main character. The experience of reading it was made even better by listening to it on audio, which consisted of a full cast. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a fast-paced, entertaining mystery.
“But sometimes remembering isn't for yourself, sometimes you do it just to make someone else smile. Those lies were allowed.”
I love that this book is written in mixed media. There's photos, interviews, text messages and just plain old paragraphs.
It's refreshing to read a mystery novel from the point of view of a young girl. I always read stories like this but from the perspective of a police or a private investigator.
I enjoyed the main character, Pippa. She is smart and passionate and she isn't embarrassed about being a geek. The plot is exciting, makes you want to keep reading more. I was happy with the twist, it wasn't too unbelievable that it's ridiculous but it was still surprising enough.
This is the first book of a trilogy, I would happily continue on with the series!
Holly Jackson did a great job with this story, I gave it only four stars because I felt the ending was a little to whimsical for me.
Pip is in her senior year and has to pick a topic for her senior capstone project; she decides she's going to dig into the 5 year old murder of Andie Bell and try to prove the murderers innocence. Sal Singh was Andie's boyfriend at the time and had a very inconsistent alibi and shortly thereafter is found dead by suicide in the woods with a letter claiming his guilt, but Pip doesn't think he was guilty but set-up.
Along with Sal's younger brother Ravi, Pip sets out to look into every aspect of the original investigation. She soon finds out that Andie held many secrets and those closest to her as well. When someone isn't happy with her digging around again she finds herself in dangers path.
I love the characters in this book and totally got Nancy Drew vibes. I definitely recommend this book to those who love a good who done it!
Fast-paced, engaging mystery! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I thought the big reveal was a bit complicated, but overall I really had fun reading this.
Fantastisch audiobook!
“When you ask people in town what happened to Andie Bell, they'll tell you without hesitation: ‘She was murdered by Salil Singh.' No ‘allegedly,' no ‘might have,' no ‘probably,' no ‘most likely.' He did it, they say. Sal Singh killed Andie. But I'm just not so sure.”
With all the hype surrounding this trilogy, I couldn't wait to start A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. I didn't expect to be reading it for the better half of a month.
The story would have benef

When Pippa decides to focus on the deaths of two teens in her town for her Capstone Project, she has no idea how drastically it will change her life. As Pippa begins to revisit the case and dig into angles the police left unturned, she will uncover startling truths about the people she thought she knew best. And someone in town wants her to stop searching for the truth. Someone willing to kill to keep their involvement buried.
Pippa is a girl who remains focused on her task and makes sure to analyze everything she can. And while she considers the implications, she's willing to take risks to prove her point. Her character was fascinating to follow as she chased down leads and connected information. It's refreshing to read about a female character who doesn't let attraction derail her priorities. And while there certainly is a crush brewing for Pippa as the story progresses, the plot remains steadfast on Pippa investigating for her project.
I also appreciated the writing style of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Mixed within the narrative are sections of Pippa's notes, interviews, and evidence she is compiling for her project. This gives readers a chance to look over all the information as the story progresses. Even with the wealth of information, I could never guess what came at the end. And the amount of twists and turns Holly Jackson threw into the story kept me engrossed.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a great book for fans of murder mysteries. Especially if you like diving into the investigative side and chasing down leads. While this book isn't necessarily action-packed, it is faster paced due to the intermittent conflicts and intensity that arise throughout Pippa's investigation. There is certainly never a dull moment and every time you think you've solved the mystery, Holly Jackson will throw another piece of information your way to make you question everything. I can't wait to see what crime Pippa tries to solve in the next book!
That was so awesome. This book is unputdownable ^-^
I simply loved every page of it. It is great mystery done right.
This was a really good book.
First of all, in YA Mystery/Thrillers I tend to dislike the protagonists, Pip was a dream to me! I loved her! She was smart, driven, brave and I loved her relationship with her parents - this may seem like a strange point to make but it's very refreshing, to me, to see a healthy relationship with the parents in a YA book. Ravi was a star too! I absolutely loved him! Following these two while they investigated was a great experience.
The format of this book was very interesting too. Pip was investigating the closed case for her school project which means we get interviews, photos, emails, etc, it was very engaging.
The writing was very good too, IMO. HJ managed to keep me invested and succeed in confusing me with very, very suspicious characters, that were intertwined in this story. There were a lot of suspicious situations and shady characters in this town. Super entertaining!
The ending took me by surprise. The twists were really well done. I guessed a certain someone was involved in it, even though I was not SURE at all, but the WHOLE thing... Very surprising!
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot! I'll definitely read the next one.
A likeable protagonist, a genuine plot twist (that I didn't see coming), and a little bit of romance sprinkled in. Overall, an enjoyable read.
This book is smart, so smart. I couldn't put it down. I wish there was more time to flesh out some side characters that I felt didn't really need to exist but hey, that's what sequels are for!
4.5/5 this was soooooo good. a great YA mystery!!!!!!! can't wait to buy the other 2 books after my book buy ban :)
